Scholarships for Students in Kansas

This scholarship is for residents of the Heartland Foundation service region, which includes the following counties:

• In Missouri - Andrew, Atchison, Buchanan, Caldwell, Carroll, Clay, Clinton, Daviess, DeKalb, Gentry, Grundy, Harrison, Holt, Livingston, Mercer, Nodaway, Platte, Ray, and Worth
• In Iowa - Decatur, Fremont, Page, Ringgold, and Taylor
• In Kansas - Atchison, Brown, Doniphan, and Nemaha
• In Nebraska - Nemaha and Richardson

To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must be accepted and enrolled in 12 hours of study for a regular semester or equivalent full-time status in an approved nursing or health care-related program. Students enrolled in a pre-health program are not eligible.

 

This fund was established to pay tribute to Dr. James S. Garrison and dedication to health care in Arkansas. Two $2,500 scholarships are available annually. All area students currently enrolled or beginning their education in a health related career field are invited to apply.

This scholarship is for a Kansas resident student who plans to pursue a Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) program in an accredited educational institution and it is  payable to the school at the start of the first semester.

Applicants who are residents of Sedgwick County, Kansas or one of the surrounding counties may attend an accredited nursing program anywhere in the U.S.; applicants from any other state in the U.S. may use the scholarship to attend a qualified program in Sedgwick County, Kansas, one of the surrounding counties, or St. Luke's College in Kansas City, Missouri.

The Kansas Nursing Service Scholarship is designed to encourage enrollment in nursing programs by Kansans committed to practicing as a
LPN or RN in Kansas.

Arkansas Nurses Foundation provides research grant for nurses who hold an Arkansas Nursing license and graduated from an NLNAC or CCNE accredited program. 

Applicant must be an employee, or dependent or spouse of an employee, of a Kansas Catholic school.

Applicant must have a minimum 3.4 GPA and be a National Merit, National Achievement, or National Hispanic Finalist who indicated the University of Kansas as their first choice with the National Merit Scholarship Corporation or The College Board.

Applicant must be a degree-seeking student who has a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA (at least a 3.0 GPA each semester), and must be a resident of Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, or Texas residing in school's service area. Official Texarkana Coll transcripts required. First preference is for an applicant who attended Texarkana Coll on an Albert Loftin scholarship; second preference is for an applicant who attended Texarkana Coll full time who plans on completing an undergraduate degree at Texas A&M U - Texarkana.

Applicant must be a degree-seeking student age 25 or over providing financial support for children age 18 or under, enrolled in at least six semester hours, have a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA with no grade below "B," at Texas A&M U - Texarkana and must be a resident of Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, or Texas residing in school's service area.

Applicant must be a National Merit Finalist who has designated University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville as his or her first-choice institution when completing the scholarship application. Applicants may change their top-choice selection by logging onto the Online Scholarship Application (OSA) website. Applicant must take the PSAT/NMSQT in the specified year of the high school program and no later than the third year in grades 9 through 12. Applicant must also be a citizen of the United States or be a U.S. lawful permanent resident.

Applicants must have been registered on a Dixie Youth Baseball team participating in a franchised Dixie Youth Baseball Inc. league prior to reaching age thirteen. Selection is based on financial need, scholastic record and citizenship. Programs are located in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.

Applicants must be sophomore, junior or senior undergraduate or graduate students in natural or applied science, engineering or mathematics at Brown University, Colorado School of Mines, Clemson University, Florida Institute of Technology, Georgia Institute of Technology, Harvey Mudd College, Johns Hopkins University, Louisiana State University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Miami University, North Carolina State University, North Dakota State University, Ohio State, Pennsylvania State University, Purdue University, Syracuse University, Texas A&M University, Tufts University, University of Arizona, University of Central Florida, University of Chicago, University of Colorado, University of Kansas, University of Kentucky, University of Minnesota, University of Michigan, University of Oklahoma, University of Rochester, University of Southern California, University of Texas at Austin, University of Virginia, University of Washington, University of Wisconsin or Washington University and must be nominated by faculty or staff. Applicants may not directly apply for the scholarship. Students must have excellent grades and performed research or lab work in their field.

Applicant must be a female degree-seeking student enrolled in at least three semester hours, have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (undergraduates) or 3.5 cumulative GPA (graduates), and be a U.S. citizen and resident of Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, or Texas residing in school's service area. Tax forms required.

Applicant must be a degree-seeking student enrolled in at least nine semester hours (undergraduate) or six semester hours (graduate), have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA, and must be an U.S. citizen and a resident of Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, or Texas residing in school's service area. Tax forms required.

Applicant must be pursuing a graduate or undergraduate degree related to the poultry industry in the University of Arkansas, Arkansas State, Arkansas Tech, or Southern Arkansas University system.

Applicant must be an alumni association member in good standing, seeking a degree or professional improvement, enrolled in at least six semester hours, have a minimum 3.3 cumulative GPA, and must be a resident of Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, or Texas residing in school's service area.

For consideration, applicant must be an Arkansas resident from a geographically under-represented area with a minimum 28 ACT (1240 SAT) and 3.5 GPA.

Applicant must be a graduating senior from a high school in the 26-county area of northwest Kansas, have a minimum 3.5 GPA, and plan on attending a an accredited school in Kansas.

Applicant must be a US citizen or eligible non-citizen and be a resident of Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, or Texas. Undergraduate applicant must have a minimum 2.0 GPA. Graduate applicant must have a minimum 3.0 GPA either in all graduate coursework or in the last 60 credits of undergraduate coursework. Financial need is considered.
