The Georgia Nurses Foundation announces a call for applications for the annual Georgia Nurses Foundation and the Georgia Nurses Association scholarship awards. These programs include: the Katherine Pope Scholarship awarded by the Georgia Nurses Foundation; the Annie Lou Overton Scholarship for the Georgia Nurses Association.
These programs provide financial assistance to qualified applicants studying nursing in an accredited school, college or university. Applicants may be enrolled full or part-time in a graduate or undergraduate nursing program. Interested students must have a GPA of at least a 2.5 on a 4.0 scale in prior academic work and be able to verify financial need.
Scholarship funds are obtained through the tax-deductible contributions of nurses and supporters of nursing. The scholarships are awarded in minimum amounts of $500.00, in odd years only.
Priority will be given to applicants who meet the following criteria:
- Enrolled in a Georgia school, college or university
- Plans to practice professional nursing in Georgia following graduation
- RN to BSN completion for Annie Lou Overton Scholarship

Applicant must be an incoming freshman student with a minimum 2.25 GPA and a minimum combined SAT Reasoning score of 1000 (minimum composite ACT score of 21). Applicant must have been involved in student media in high school and plan to continue that involvement at Georgia Southern.

Applicants must be full-time juniors or seniors at a public Georgia college or university. They must be admitted to their school's college or department of education and have a GPA of 3.25 or higher. Applicants must be legal residents of Georgia, have graduated from a Georgia high school, be U.S. citizens or permanent resident aliens, be in compliance with Selective Service requirements and not be in default on student financial aid. Eligible colleges and universities can nominate one student each year.

Applicant must be a United States citizen or legal permanent resident with a permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551 who is of Hispanic heritage. Applicant must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and plan to enroll as a full-time student in a degree seeking program at a four-year accredited institution at the University of Georgia during the upcoming academic year. FAFSA must be completed by March 1; applicant must be able to demonstrate financial need. Priority will be given to applicants who are Pell grant eligible and to those who have unmet need. United Daughters of the Confederacy
Applicant must be a lineal descendant of worthy Confederates or collateral descendant who is a member of the Children of the Confederacy or the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Applicant must be a member or former member of the Children of the Confederacy or the United Daughters of the Confederacy and reside in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, or Virginia. Applicant must have at least a 3.0 GPA, be enrolled in an accredited college or university, and carry a minimum of 12 hours each semester. Applicant must be prepared to pass entrance examination of prospective college or university. Applicant must submit proof of Confederate Military Record, line of descent from Confederate ancestor, a letter of endorsement from sponsoring Chapter, a letter of recommendation, complete financial report, official transcripts, an essay on the significance of a southern heritage, and a wallet-size photo. Original and four copies of the application forms and five copies of all documents, certificates, and letters must be submitted to the Division Director of Education. All inquiries must include a self-addressed, stamped envelope.
