Scholarships for Students in Louisiana

These scholarships are available to full-time student in selected regions of the U.S. Eligibility is determined by applicant's school/college of nursing's zip code.

This scholarship open to all students attending accredited nursing program in selected regions such as Louisiana, Maryland, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Washington.

Applicant must be a National Merit Finalist who has designated Louisiana State University - Alexandria Campus as his or her first-choice institution when completing the scholarship application. Applicants may change their top-choice selection by logging onto the Online Scholarship Application (OSA) website. Applicant must take the PSAT/NMSQT in the specified year of the high school program and no later than the third year in grades 9 through 12. Applicant must also be a citizen of the United States or be a U.S. lawful permanent resident.

Applicant must be an incoming freshman at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette who graduated high school with the designation valedictorian.

Applicant must be a degree-seeking student who has a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA (at least a 3.0 GPA each semester), and must be a resident of Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, or Texas residing in school's service area. Official Texarkana Coll transcripts required. First preference is for an applicant who attended Texarkana Coll on an Albert Loftin scholarship; second preference is for an applicant who attended Texarkana Coll full time who plans on completing an undergraduate degree at Texas A&M U - Texarkana.

Applicant must be a degree-seeking student age 25 or over providing financial support for children age 18 or under, enrolled in at least six semester hours, have a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA with no grade below "B," at Texas A&M U - Texarkana and must be a resident of Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, or Texas residing in school's service area.

Applicants must have been registered on a Dixie Youth Baseball team participating in a franchised Dixie Youth Baseball Inc. league prior to reaching age thirteen. Selection is based on financial need, scholastic record and citizenship. Programs are located in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.

Applicant must be a child (16 to 25 years of age) or surviving spouse (who has not remarried) of a deceased member of the U.S. armed forces who died in service in the line of duty or from a wartime service-connected disability after discharge, a 90% disabled member or 100% disabled member, including 100% due to individual unemployability, (rated by the U.S. Department of Veterans' Affairs), a POW, or MIA. The deceased war veteran must have been a Louisiana resident for at least two years prior to child's enrollment in school. Applicant must be enrolled full-time at a Louisiana state-supported college, university, or trade/vocational school.

Applicant must be a full-time junior or senior at a public university in Mississippi or at Southern University in Louisiana majoring in criminal justice, political science, or counseling. Financial aid and strong commitment to community and public service must be demonstrated.

Applicants must be sophomore, junior or senior undergraduate or graduate students in natural or applied science, engineering or mathematics at Brown University, Colorado School of Mines, Clemson University, Florida Institute of Technology, Georgia Institute of Technology, Harvey Mudd College, Johns Hopkins University, Louisiana State University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Miami University, North Carolina State University, North Dakota State University, Ohio State, Pennsylvania State University, Purdue University, Syracuse University, Texas A&M University, Tufts University, University of Arizona, University of Central Florida, University of Chicago, University of Colorado, University of Kansas, University of Kentucky, University of Minnesota, University of Michigan, University of Oklahoma, University of Rochester, University of Southern California, University of Texas at Austin, University of Virginia, University of Washington, University of Wisconsin or Washington University and must be nominated by faculty or staff. Applicants may not directly apply for the scholarship. Students must have excellent grades and performed research or lab work in their field.

Applicant must be a female degree-seeking student enrolled in at least three semester hours, have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (undergraduates) or 3.5 cumulative GPA (graduates), and be a U.S. citizen and resident of Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, or Texas residing in school's service area. Applicant must be a degree-seeking student enrolled in at least nine semester hours (undergraduate) or six semester hours (graduate), have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA, and must be an U.S. citizen and a resident of Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, or Texas residing in school's service area. Tax forms required.

Applicant must be an alumni association member in good standing, seeking a degree or professional improvement, enrolled in at least six semester hours, have a minimum 3.3 cumulative GPA, and must be a resident of Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, or Texas residing in school's service area.

Applicant must be an enrolled member of one of 26 USET member tribes: Alabama Coushatta Tribe of Texas; Aroostook Band of Micmacs; Catawba Indian Nation; Cayuga Nation; Chitimacha Tribe of Louisiana; Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana; Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians; Houlton Band of Maliseet Indians; Jena Band of Choctaw Indians; Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation; Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe; Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida; Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians; Narragansett Indian Tribe; Oneida Indian Nation; Passamaquoddy Tribe - Pleasant Point; Passamaquoddy Tribe - Indian Township; Penobscot Indian Nation; Poarch Band of Creek Indians; Seminole Tribe of Florida; Seneca Nation of Indians; St. Regis Mohawk Tribe; The Mohegan Tribe; Tunica-Biloxi Tribe of Louisiana; Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head (Aquinnah).

Applicants must be children or surviving spouses of United States Armed Forces veterans who died or became at least 90 percent disabled in service or from a service-connected disability incurred during wartime. Deceased veterans must have been a Louisiana resident for at least 12 months before entering the service, and disabled veterans must have lived in the state at least 24 months prior to the dependent's admission into the program. Spouses must use the program within 10 years of establishing eligibility, and children must be between 16 and 25 years of age.

Applicant must have been born in Louisiana, have been a Louisiana resident for at least two years, or have a parent who has been a Louisiana resident for at least five years. Applicant must have a minimum 3.2 undergraduate GPA, minimum combined GRE score of 1050, submit recommendation from a librarian, attend a personal interview, and have unconditional admission to Louisiana State University School of Library and Information Science.

Applicant must be a US citizen or eligible non-citizen and be a resident of Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, or Texas. Undergraduate applicant must have a minimum 2.0 GPA. Graduate applicant must have a minimum 3.0 GPA either in all graduate coursework or in the last 60 credits of undergraduate coursework. Financial need is considered.

Applicant must be a resident of Kansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Missouri, Tennessee, or Texas and have a minimum 3.0 GPA and minimum composite ACT score of 24 (combined SAT I score of 1090).
