Scholarships for Students in Ohio

The American Legion Auxiliary Department of Ohio, Past Presidents Parley, has a program to assist students pursuing a degree in the nursing field.

• The applicant must be an honorably discharged veteran or a spouse, son or daughter (adopted, step, grand, or great-grand) of a living, deceased, or disabled honorably discharged veteran
• The applicant must be a resident of Ohio.
• The applicant must be sponsored by an Ohio American Legion Auxiliary Unit.
• The scholarship may be used at the nursing school of the student's choice. Proof of acceptance must be attached to application.

The Nurse Education Assistance Loan Program (NEALP) provides funding for nurses who intend to serve as instructors or students who intend to serve as nurses after graduation. Recipients of the loan program must serve as a full-time nurse in Ohio for five years to qualify for 100 percent loan cancellation.

 

 

Applicant must be a graduate of Portsmouth West High School, Ohio, in the year award is given, must have been a student of Washington Local School District for four years, must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, must be pursuing an associate or bachelor's degree, must demonstrate financial need, and must be active in church, community, and school.

Applicant must be pursuing an associate's or bachelor's degree with a communications/marketing-related major (such as advertising, marketing, graphic design, photography, interactive marketing, copywriting, public relations, web design, media planning, etc.) at an Ohio college or university. Applicant must be enrolled in their junior or senior year and live in Ohio, and qualify for in-state tuition. Full course-load and minimum 3.0 GPA are required.

Applicant must be a graduating senior from Orrville High School who will attend a college or university in Ohio. Financial need must be demonstrated.

Applicant must receive superior rating at the Mohican District Science Fair or the Ohio Academy of Science Fair.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens. They must be in at least the second year of study in a two-year, four-year or five-year undergraduate degree program that is related to construction. They must be enrolled at a postsecondary institution located in West Virginia, Pennsylvania or Ohio and have a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Applicants must have plans to work in the construction industry. Selection is based on the overall strength of the application.

Applicants must be sophomore, junior or senior undergraduate or graduate students in natural or applied science, engineering or mathematics at Brown University, Colorado School of Mines, Clemson University, Florida Institute of Technology, Georgia Institute of Technology, Harvey Mudd College, Johns Hopkins University, Louisiana State University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Miami University, North Carolina State University, North Dakota State University, Ohio State, Pennsylvania State University, Purdue University, Syracuse University, Texas A&M University, Tufts University, University of Arizona, University of Central Florida, University of Chicago, University of Colorado, University of Kansas, University of Kentucky, University of Minnesota, University of Michigan, University of Oklahoma, University of Rochester, University of Southern California, University of Texas at Austin, University of Virginia, University of Washington, University of Wisconsin or Washington University and must be nominated by faculty or staff. Applicants may not directly apply for the scholarship. Students must have excellent grades and performed research or lab work in their field.

Applicant must be a graduating senior from a high school in Dearborn or Ohio County (including students residing in Dearborn or Ohio County who are home-schooled) who has been accepted at an accredited college or university and/or technical school program. Essay, letters of recommendation and minimum 3.0 GPA required.

Applicant must be a Salem (Ohio) High School student. Award based on character, honesty, integrity, kindness, and compassion. Essay, two letters of recommendation, and interview required.

Applicant must be a graduate from a high school in Cuyahoga, Lorain, Huron, Erie, Wood, Geauga, Sandusky, Ottawa, or Lucas Counties who is enrolled as a sophomore, junior, or senior at an Ohio college or university. Applicant must be majoring in a field relevant to the newspaper industry, particularly journalism, advertising, marketing, or a communications degree program. Minimum 3.0 GPA and college transcript required.

Applicant must be participating in Educational Talent Search in Lawrence, Pike, or Scioto County, Ohio, demonstrate financial need, and have a minimum 2.75 GPA and a minimum composite ACT score of 18. Community involvement and extracurricular activities considered. FAFSA is required.

Applicant must be a graduate student at the Capital University Law School. Preference given to a Bexley High School graduate who received an undergraduate degree from Capital University and/or who is from Bexley, Ohio.

Applicants must be working toward a degree in one of the following fields: animal science, animal nutrition, dairy science, poultry science, equine/equestrian science, agriculture, agricultural science, agricultural business management, economics, finance or marketing and sales. Applicants must attend college in and be residents of one of the following states: Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia or West Virginia. Selection is based on the overall strength of the application.

Applicant must be a Greater Cleveland area resident who is a full-time student enrolled in a marketing or sales discipline at an Ohio college or university. Minimum 3.0 GPA required.

Applicant must be the valedictorian of an Ohio high school.

Applicant must be a resident of Ohio.

Applicant must be a resident of Arlington School District of Ohio and attend Arlington High School in Arlington, OH.

Applicant must not be a resident of Michigan or Ohio.

Applicant must be a United States citizen who is at least 18 years old and attending a United States institution in a welding discipline. Minimum 2.5 GPA, proof of financial aid, two letters of reference, biography, and transcript required. Preference given to applicants residing or attending school in Arizona or Ohio.
