Scholarships for Students in Minnesota

The purpose this program is to recruit and retain health care professionals to needed areas and facilities in Minnesota.To be eligible, prospective participants must apply to the Office of Rural Health and Primary Care (ORHPC), during the application cycle of September 1 - January 2.

Participants must plan to teach at least 12 credit hours, or 720 hours per year (including prep time), for a minimum of three years in a post-secondary nursing program.

This program assists students who have demonstrated outstanding ability, achievement, and potential in one of several critical subject areas. Applicants must be Minnesota high school graduates and enroll full time and in a baccalaureate degree granting program. The scholarship can be renewed annually for up to three academic years. Applicant must be a resident of Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Wisconsin, or North Dakota. Minimum 3.4 GPA and combined SAT Reasoning score of 1090 (composite ACT score of 25) required. Applicant must be majoring in one of the majors listed on sponsor's application page.

Applicant must be a National Merit Finalist who has designated University of Minnesota - Duluth as his or her first-choice institution when completing the scholarship application. Applicants may change their top-choice selection by logging onto the Online Scholarship Application (OSA) website. Applicant must take the PSAT/NMSQT in the specified year of the high school program and no later than the third year in grades 9 through 12. Applicant must also be a citizen of the United States or be a U.S. lawful permanent resident.

Applicant must be a resident of Minnesota, attending an institution in Minnesota, and working in a medically related curriculum with potential application to patients with disease of the heart and blood vessel system.

Applicants must be sophomore, junior or senior undergraduate or graduate students in natural or applied science, engineering or mathematics at Brown University, Colorado School of Mines, Clemson University, Florida Institute of Technology, Georgia Institute of Technology, Harvey Mudd College, Johns Hopkins University, Louisiana State University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Miami University, North Carolina State University, North Dakota State University, Ohio State, Pennsylvania State University, Purdue University, Syracuse University, Texas A&M University, Tufts University, University of Arizona, University of Central Florida, University of Chicago, University of Colorado, University of Kansas, University of Kentucky, University of Minnesota, University of Michigan, University of Oklahoma, University of Rochester, University of Southern California, University of Texas at Austin, University of Virginia, University of Washington, University of Wisconsin or Washington University and must be nominated by faculty or staff. Applicants may not directly apply for the scholarship. Students must have excellent grades and performed research or lab work in their field.

Applicant must have a minimum 3.5 GPA and have completed either an associate of arts degree or the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum from a community college.

Applicant must be a high school senior who has attended Central High School for more than two years and who plans to enroll one of the following colleges/universities: The College of St. Scholastica, the University of Minnesota - Duluth, the University of Wisconsin - Superior, Lake Superior College, or Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College. FAFSA is required.

Applicant must be a Church of Christ student in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, Texas, Vermont or Virginia. A minimum combined SAT score of 950 (composite ACT score of 20) is required.

Applicant must be a resident of Minnesota and currently attending a Minnesota institution. Award is to enable a medical student to participate in health research at a Minnesota institution and to explore the field of research.

Awarded to (in order of preference) a member of the Virginia Tech Cycling Club or a resident of Minnesota, South Dakota, Iowa, or Maryland. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen and be enrolled full time (at least 12 credit hours per semester). Entering freshman and transfer applicants should have a minimum combined SAT I score of 1100. Returning student applicant should have a minimum 3.0 Quality Credit Average (QCA). Applicant must submit FAFSA. Selection is based upon demonstrated financial need, academic achievement, extracurricular activities, and community service.

Applicants must be members of the Minnesota Nurses Association (MNA) who are enrolled in a bachelor's or graduate degree program in nursing with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference will be given to applicants who live or work in MNA District 13. Selection is based on academic merit, extracurricular activities, stated career goals and leadership.

Applicant must be an incoming freshman who is majoring in accounting. Applicant must be from one of the following cities in Minnesota: Detroit lakes, Bemidji, Fergus Falls, Alexandria Brainerd, Theif River Falls, Hutchinson, or Litchfield.

Applicant must be a resident of Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, or Wisconsin.

Applicants must be women who are enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program that is related to transportation. They either must be attending a school located in Minnesota, or must be North Dakota, South Dakota or Iowa students who have lived in Minnesota at some point during the past five years. They must have plans to pursue a career in the transportation field, and must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Selection is based on academic merit, transportation-related activities and career goals.

This program helps students from low and moderate income families pay for educational expenses. Applicants must be Minnesota residents who are graduates of a secondary school or its equivalent or are at least 17 years of age. Applicants must be enrolled as undergraduates for at least three credits and must not have received a baccalaureate degree at the time of application. Applicants must also complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the MN Dream Act. The maximum award ranges from $7,343 at a public two year college to $11,753 at a private four-year college.
