Scholarships for Students in South Carolina

These scholarships are available to full-time student in selected regions of the U.S. Eligibility is determined by applicant's school/college of nursing's zip code.

The purpose of this scholarship is to provide a scholarship to a Registered Nurse and a Licensed Practical Nurse currently practicing nursing in a South Carolina school setting who desires to further his/her education. Awards will be provided annually for two nurses.

This scholarship open to all students attending accredited nursing program in selected regions such as Louisiana, Maryland, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Washington.

The Palmetto Gold Undergraduate Scholarship is awarded every year to the students who are in the registered nurse undergraduate program in South Carolina.

The Renatta S. Loquist Scholarship for Graduate Nursing Education is established to honors Renatta Loquist, a nurse-leader in South Carolina who was instrumental in establishing the Palmetto Gold Nurse Recognition and Scholarship Program.

Applicant must be attending a SCSGC member institution in South Carolina. The institution must match the $10,000 award with non-federal funds.

Applicant must be a high school senior or current undergraduate student with a permanent residence in one of the 18 designated county regions in Georgia or South Carolina. Applicant must plan to attend a four-year accredited, non-profit college. Minimum 3.0 GPA required.

Preference given to applicants who have participated in TRIO programs, a College of Charleston program such as College Experience or a CofC bridge program with a South Carolina technical college.

Applicant must be a college student attending a North or South Carolina college or university. Essay required.

Applicants must have been registered on a Dixie Youth Baseball team participating in a franchised Dixie Youth Baseball Inc. league prior to reaching age thirteen. Selection is based on financial need, scholastic record and citizenship. Programs are located in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.

Applicant must have at least a general class radio license and be attending school in the ARRL Roanoke Division (North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia). Preference is given to residents of North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia.

Students must be legal residents of South Carolina with financial need. High school seniors must graduate in the top 75 percent of their class or score a minimum of 900 on the SAT or 19 on the ACT. College applicants must complete and pass a minimum of 24 semester hours each year.

Applicants must be South Carolina residents and be enrolled in an undergraduate registered nurse (RN) degree program or a graduate degree program in nursing. They must be in good academic standing, have plans to practice nursing in South Carolina after graduation and must demonstrate financial need. Selection is based on the overall strength of the application.

Applicant must be a writer who resides in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, or South Carolina. Fictional short story, nonfictional article or essay, up to three poems, OR a one-act play required. $15 entry fee required.

Applicant must be a North Carolina or South Carolina resident and a full-time student, be articulate, have a minimum 3.7 GPA, demonstrate involvement in university outside activities with leadership ability, and have a connection between studies, job plans, and extracurricular activities with future plans well thought out in the field of finance.

Applicant must be a National Merit Finalist who has designated Medical University of South Carolina as his or her first-choice institution when completing the scholarship application. Applicants may change their top-choice selection by logging onto the Online Scholarship Application (OSA) website. Applicant must take the PSAT/NMSQT in the specified year of the high school program and no later than the third year in grades 9 through 12. Applicant must also be a citizen of the United States or be a U.S. lawful permanent resident.

Students must hold a significant campus leadership position, demonstrate significant leadership skills and abilities and make significant contributions through on- or off-campus volunteering. Students must attend school in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia or Puerto Rico.

Applicant must be a lineal descendant of worthy Confederates or collateral descendant who is a member of the Children of the Confederacy or the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Applicant must be a member or former member of the Children of the Confederacy or the United Daughters of the Confederacy and reside in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, or Virginia. Applicant must have at least a 3.0 GPA, be enrolled in an accredited college or university, and carry a minimum of 12 hours each semester. Applicant must be prepared to pass entrance examination of prospective college or university. Applicant must submit proof of Confederate Military Record, line of descent from Confederate ancestor, a letter of endorsement from sponsoring Chapter, a letter of recommendation, complete financial report, official transcripts, an essay on the significance of a southern heritage, and a wallet-size photo. Original and four copies of the application forms and five copies of all documents, certificates, and letters must be submitted to the Division Director of Education. All inquiries must include a self-addressed, stamped envelope.

Applicants must be South Carolina high school seniors with a combined SAT score of 1800 or a composite ACT score of 26 who plan to be full-time students at an accredited college or university in South Carolina. Selection is based on academic merit and financial need, and the applicants' parents' adjusted gross income must not exceed $40,000. A transcript, recommendation letter, essay and parents' tax documents are required.

Applicant must be a dependent of a qualified employee of the Facilities Management Division at South Carolina State University who will attend SCSU. Minimum 2.5 GPA required.
