Scholarships for Students in New Mexico

The New Mexico Health Professional Loan Repayment Program (HPLRP) provide repayment for outstanding student loans of practicing health professionals. 

Applicants must be high school seniors and residents of New Mexico. They must plan to enroll in a math, science or engineering undergraduate degree program. Selection is based on academic achievement, leadership experiences at school, involvement in the community and financial need.

Applicants must be enrolled in a college, university or technical school in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington or Wyoming and have a GPA of 2.0 or higher. Selection is based on book and cover design projects.

Applicants must be enrolled in a program working towards a degree in the retail design industry. Students must have at least a 3.0 GPA. Applicants must be full-time students enrolled in at least 12 credit hours. Students must be studying within the following states: Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah or Washington.

Applicant must be a citizen of the United States, Indonesia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Chile, Peru, Canada, Mexico or Australia who is a full-time undergraduate sophomore, junior, or senior that is majoring in mining engineering, metallurgical engineering, or geology. Questionnaire, personal essay, and unofficial transcript required. Applicant must attend one of the following institutions: Arizona State University, Colorado School of Mines, Eastern Arizona College, Michigan Technological University, Missouri University of Science and Technology, Montana Tech of the University of Montana, New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, New Mexico State University, Northern Arizona University, Pima Community College, South Dakota School of Mines & Technology, University of Arizona, University of Texas at El Paso, University of Utah, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, or Yavapai Community College.

Applicant must be a graduating high school senior who commits to enroll in or who already is enrolled as a full-time college or university student pursuing a degree in manufacturing engineering or a closely related field within the areas of New Mexico, Arizona, or Southern California. Applicant must be a resident of one of those states and be a current SME Chapter member (with the exception of high school students who may apply without any SME member relationship). A minimum 3.5 GPA is required.

Applicant must be a high school senior graduating from any high school in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, or Wyoming with financial need. Minimum composite ACT score of 17 (combined SAT Reasoning score of 830 with math score no lower than 450 in critical reading and 470 in math).

Applicants must be residents of Utah, Colorado, Idaho, Wyoming, New Mexico, Arizona or Nevada. Students must demonstrate financial need. Applicants must provide proof of enrollment along with an essay detailing how their life has been directly affected by addiction.

Applicants must have been honorably discharged from the armed forces, and they must have received a Vietnam campaign medal for serving in Vietnam anytime between August 5, 1964 and the official end of the war. Students must be attending either a public school or one of the following private schools in New Mexico: the College of Santa Fe, St. John's College or the College of the Southwest. They must have been New Mexico residents when entering the armed forces or have lived in the state for at least 10 years.

Applicant must be a woman and a resident of Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, or Wyoming. Proof of legal home residence and six copies of application, proof of membership in ACSM, a brief statement describing educational objectives, future plans of study or research, professional activities, and financial need, at least three letters of recommendation, and official transcript are required.

Selection is based on academic performance, including the pursuit in high school of a rigorous course of study, GPA and standardized test scores, varied extracurricular and community service activities, strong critical thinking skills and career goals that are relevant to the needs of the northern New Mexico community. Some consideration is also given to financial need, ethnic diversity and equally representing all the regions of northern New Mexico. Applicants must have a minimum 3.25 GPA and either minimum score of 19 on the ACT or 930 on the SAT (Math and Critical Reading).

Applicants must be enrolled full-time as an undergraduate at an accredited two- or four-year college or university. Applicants must be studying engineering and/or science at their chosen school. Applicants must have permanent residence in the NACE Central Area which includes the following states: Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

Applicant must be an Hispanic women from northern New Mexico, Rio Arriba, Taos, Los Alamos, Mora, Santa Fe, or San Miguel counties.

Applicant must reside or work in Bernalillo, Sandoval, Valencia, or Torrance counties in New Mexico, and work a minimum of 20 hours per week.

Applicant must be a legal resident of New Mexico who will be attending a nonprofit or public educational institution in an automotive technology program. Essay and a letter of recommendation are required.

Applicant must be a National Merit Finalist who has designated University of New Mexico - Valencia Campus as his or her first-choice institution when completing the scholarship application. Applicants may change their top-choice selection by logging onto the Online Scholarship Application (OSA) website. Applicant must take the PSAT/NMSQT in the specified year of the high school program and no later than the third year in grades 9 through 12. Applicant must also be a citizen of the United States or be a U.S. lawful permanent resident.

Applicant must have an amateur radio license and submit essay on the role of amateur radio in his or her life. Applicant must be a New Mexico resident.

Applicants must be working toward degrees in one of the following areas of agriculture: agronomy, crop science, agricultural communications, education, journalism, extension, public relations, business management, economics, finance, sales, marketing, plant pathology, plant breeding, plant genetics, soil science, soil conservation, water conservation or public service and administration. Applicants must be residents of Arkansas, California, Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia or Wisconsin. A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required. Selection is based on the overall strength of the application.

Applicants must be permanent residents of Northern New Mexico with a minimum GPA of 3.25 and a minimum ACT score of 19 or minimum combined math and critical reading SAT score of 930. Applicants must be enrolled in or currently attending a post-secondary institution of higher learning. Selection is based upon academic success, ability to utilize critical thinking skills and leadership skills. Those pursuing a degree in a science-related field will be given priority. Financial need is also considered but not a requirement for eligibility.

Applicant must be a Native American scholar-athlete who graduated from a New Mexico High School, and will attend a community college or four-year non-profit or public educational institute full time. Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA required.
