Methodist scholarships

Applicant must an undergraduate or graduate student who is pursuing a vocational career in music education or music ministry. Must be an active full member of the United Methodist Church for at least one year. Minimum 2.5 GPA and full-time enrollment status required.

Applicant must be a member of the Southeastern Jurisdiction Black Methodists for Church Renewal. Must be an undergraduate student at a U.S. accredited institution with a Minimum 2.8 GPA. International students may apply if they are a member of United Methodist Church for at least three years. Financial need must be demonstrated.

Applicant must submit an original manuscript, no longer than 20 pages, on the history of women in the United Methodist Church or its antecedents. Please note that these monies are not scholarships to defray the costs of attending school; prizes are for scholarly papers submitted and for specific research projects examining the history of The United Methodist Church or its antecedents.

Applicant must be a college sophomore, junior, or senior at an accredited U.S. institution who is an active full member of the United Methodist Church for at least three years. Nomination from campus minister/chaplain and minimum 3.0 GPA required. International students may apply if they are a member of United Methodist Church for at least 3 years.

Applicant must be a racial/ethnic minority incoming freshman student who is pursuing a church related career. Must be an active member of the United Methodist Church for at least one year. Minimum 2.5 GPA and full-time enrollment status required.

Applicant must be of Hispanic, Asian, Native American, or Pacific Island descent who is an upper level undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral student and has been a full and active member of the United Methodist Church for at least three years. Minimum 2.85 GPA required.

This merit based program encourages top ranked high school seniors to attend college. To be eligible applicants must be a Missouri resident and a United States citizen or permanent resident; have a composite score on the ACT or SAT in either: the top 3 percent of all Missouri students, or the top 4th or 5th percentiles of all Missouri. Applicants must also enroll as a first time student and receive the scholarship in the academic year immediately following high school graduation.

Applicant must be an incoming freshman college student who is pursuing a church related career. Must be an active full member of the United Methodist Church for at least one year. Award provides seed money (travel, secretarial services, etc.) for research projects relating specifically to the history of women in The United Methodist Church or its antecedents. Applicant must be an undergraduate or graduate racial/ethnic minority student who is at least 30 years old that is pursuing a career in ordained ministry. Must be a member of the United Methodist Church for at least 2 years and currently attending a United Methodist related institution. Minimum 2.85 GPA required for undergraduate; minimum 3.0 GPA for graduate.

Award is for research into the history and heritage of ethnic groups in the American United Methodist tradition. Award enables the collection of written and oral history and encourages research regarding the development of The United Methodist Church and its antecedents in any of the conferences not in the United States. Selection is based upon scholastic achievement, good character, and community involvement. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen, be a member of the Mount Zion United Methodist Church (Oak Park, Va.) or a graduate of Orange County High School (Orange, Va.), and be enrolled full time (at least 12 credit hours per semester). Entering freshman and transfer applicants should have a minimum combined SAT score of 1100. Returning student applicant should have a minimum 3.0 Quality Credit Average (QCA). Applicant must submit FAFSA.

Applicants must be nominated by their local United Methodist Church congregation, which will pledge a contribution per year for up to four years. If selected, BSC will match the church's contribution 2-1. Students must have served their church and community. Applicants must submit their activity resume, two letters of recommendation and an essay.

Applicant must be an African-American college student pursuing a degree in education, social work, medicine, or other health professions. Must be enrolled at a United Methodist college/university with at least B+ average and be an active member of the United Methodist Church for at least three years.

Applicants must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), be residents of South Carolina and be enrolled as a degree-seeking student in a minimum of six credit hours at an eligible two-year technical institution, a USC two-year regional campus or Spartanburg Methodist College.

Applicant must be a United Methodist of racial ethnic minority heritage and must be a recent college or seminary graduate who has broad communications training, including an understanding of effective public relations. Applicant must consider pursuing communications for The United Methodist Church as a career. Fluency in English and ability to relocate for one year are required. Fellowship offers a mentoring experience intended to prepare the recipient for a communications career in an Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church in the United States.

This program provides grant aid to financially needy students to enable them to attend private, non-profit colleges or universities in Texas. Applicants must be Texas residents or non-resident National Merit Finalists who are receiving at least $1,000 in competitive scholarships. Applicants must show financial need and earn and maintain an overall college GPA of at least 2.5. Students may not be receiving athletic scholarships. Applicants must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Eligibility for this program is determined by the college financial aid office. Applicants should contact the college financial aid office for additional information and availability of funds.

Applicant must be the child of a Methodist minister and submit identification and request for consideration in writing. Applicant's Resident Bishop must provide written verification of parent's active status and church affiliation by February 15.
