Communication/Journalism scholarships

The Simon and Irene Cohen Nursing Scholarship is for nursing students who are currently at a Junior/Senior status. The scholarship will be awarded based on: scholastic ability, leadership qualities and communication skills, both oral and written.

Applicant must exemplify a dedication to the advancement of safe, effective, and ethical practice of respiratory care in their home country and at the International level; promote the clinical practice and educational development of high quality respiratory outcomes; use evidence based standards of respiratory care appropriate to the special needs and resources of individual nations; facilite interdisciplinary communication regarding respiratory care between allied health professions, the medical specialties, nursing, service companies, and health care industry; encourage the creation and growth of related respiratory care organizations in their home country and internationally; enhance respiratory health promotion, disease prevention and rehabilitation for patients, care givers, and the general public as appropriate in their home country and internationally. Award includes crystal sculpture, coach airfare, one night lodging and registration for the AARC Congress.

Applicant must not be a U.S. citizen; must demonstrate outstanding academic achievement, character, communication skills, intellectual and personal vigor, leadership and creativity in community or school, and potential for enriching lives.

Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and a minimum combined SAT Reasoning score of 1050; award is merit-based. Applicant must be a full-time student majoring in English communications.

Applicant must be enrolled in a journalism program, public relations studies or courses preparing for a career in public relations, and entering their senior year of undergraduate studies in the fall.

Applicant must have good communication skills and demonstrate a sense of responsibility. Resume, letter of interest, and three references for contact information required to be submitted.

Applicant must be officially enrolled in college and have at least one full academic year remaining or be a fully enrolled college sophomore or higher. Applicant must be pursuing a career in electronic or broadcast journalism.

Applicant must be pursuing an associate's or bachelor's degree with a communications/marketing-related major (such as advertising, marketing, graphic design, photography, interactive marketing, copywriting, public relations, web design, media planning, etc.) at an Ohio college or university. Applicant must be enrolled in their junior or senior year and live in Ohio, and qualify for in-state tuition. Full course-load and minimum 3.0 GPA are required.

Applicant must be an incoming freshman student with a minimum combined SAT Reasoning score of 1200 (minimum composite ACT score 27) who is majoring in graphic communications management.

Applicant must be a full-time college student who is pursuing a career within the Document Management and Graphic Communication industry. Minimum 3.0 GPA, cover letter, two essays, transcripts, and two letters of recommendation required.

Applicants must be graduating high school seniors in Texas, have a 3.0 or higher GPA and plan to major or minor in a communications-related field. Students must also have been involved in journalism during high school.

Applicant must be a full- or part-time undergraduate or graduate student who is considering a career in a benefits-related area such as: health care program design, pension plan design, implementation or administration, retirement strategies, ERISA and legal aspects of employee benefits, work/life programs, health risk management, institutional investing of retirement savings, multi-employer plans, workers compensation, actuarial and underwriting analysis, or employee benefits communications. Selection will be based upon specific employee benefit related study, activities, and goals, school and community activities, work experience, future potential, and academic performance. Application, transcript, and two recommendations are required to be submitted.

Applicant must demonstrate character, communication skills, intellectual and personal vigor, leadership and creativity in community or school, outstanding achievement and potential for enriching lives.

Applicant must be enrolled in a four-year college or university program in the United States with an interest in the legal or criminal justice fields. Applicant must be actively pursuing a degree in one of the following areas of study: communications, criminal justice, English, history, journalism, political science, or pre-law studies. Essay required.

Appliacnt must be an incoming full-time freshman student. Awarded to applicants who have distinguished themselves in a wide range of areas, e.g., high academic achievement, community service, music, art, journalism, science, etc.

Applicant must be willing to work 13 hours per week as editor of the "Brechner Report" newsletter for the Brechner Freedom of Information Center. Preference is given to doctoral students who are interested in mass media law and who have extensive journalism experience.

Preference given to TV communications majors.

Applicant must have a minimum 2.5 GPA, be an English major with a journalism emphasis, and must demonstrate financial need.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens enrolled as full-time undergraduates at the University of Arizona. Students must be majoring in one of the following: English, anthropology, classics, geography, history, journalism, philosophy, political science, psychology, sociology, foreign language, physical science, mathematics or engineering. Applicants must have been previously required to involuntarily withdraw from full-time study due to academic failure from an accredited four-year institution within the last two years. Students must have matured and gained admission to University of Arizona to complete their degree.

Freshman applicant must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and be registered full time in the School of Communication. Graduate applicant must be entering the School of Communication with a minimum 3.5 GPA.
