History scholarships

Applicant must have completed all requirements except dissertation for a Ph.D. in history of chemistry/technology and must submit curriculum vitae, two letters of recommendation, financial statement, and research proposal.

Applicant must be a doctoral student studying art history and aspects of art and architecture in the United States, including native and pre-Revolutionary America. Fellowship is for a period of four to six weeks of continuous travel abroad in areas such as Africa, Asia, or South America, as well as Europe, to sites of historical and cultural interest, including museums, exhibitions, collections, and monuments.

This fellowship is intended to support the research of junior scholars (usually scholars engaged in doctoral dissertation research) annually, and senior scholars (scholars who have completed their Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree) every other year in even-numbered years. The research to be supported must focus on Spanish, Portuguese, or Ibero-American architecture, including colonial architecture produced by the Spaniards in the Philippines and what is today the United States. Applicant must be a member of the Society of Architectural Historians.

Applicant must have a Ph.D. in history, history of science/technology, or a related field and must submit curriculum vitae, two letters of recommendation, financial statement, and research proposal. Part of research period is spent in Jerusalem at the Edelstein Ctr for History and Philosophy of Science, Medicine, and Technology.

Applicant must be majoring in history.

Nine to 12 month in-residence fellowship intended for the analysis of major trends, developments, and accomplishments in the history of aviation or space studies. The fellowship is open to interested candidates with demonstrated skills in research and writing. Publishing experience should demonstrate either a mid-level academic record of accomplishment or proven ability to reliably engage broader audiences. An advanced degree in history or a related field is preferred but not a requirement.

Applicant must be a full-time sophomore, junior, or senior at Evergreen State College with an interest in history or politics who meets one of the following criteria: first generation student, Native American, Hispanic/Latino, African American, a parent, age 24-26, high level of student loan indebtedness. Financial need must be demonstrated.

Applicant must possess a doctorate degree in history or in a closely related field, or be enrolled as a student (having completed all coursework) in a doctoral degree-granting program.The fellowship term is for a period of at least six months, but not more than nine months, and should commence no later than November 15. Recipient will be expected to devote the term entirely to the proposed research project.

Applicant must be an incoming freshman student with a minimum combined SAT Reasoning score of 1200 (minimum composite ACT score of 27) who is majoring in history.

Applicant must be a high school senior or graduate of a Coastal Bend high school pursuing a liberal arts degree with a major in history, political science, music, or education at one of the following schools: Coastal Bend College, Del Mar College, Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi, or Texas A&M University - Kingsville. Minimum 3.5 GPA required.

Applicant must be an incoming female freshman student with a minimum combined SAT Reasoning score of 1200 (minimum composite ACT score of 27) who is majoring in history.

Applicant must be working on a topic relating to the history of science and technology and who can make substantial use of collections in the Dibner Library. Historians, librarians, doctoral students, and post-doctoral scholars are welcome to apply. Scholars must be in residence at the Dibner Library during the award period.

Applicant must be a full-time college student majoring in history or education. Financial need, recommendation, and short written statement are required.

Award is for research on the heritage of the chemical sciences or chemical process industries, for the stimulation of public understanding of the chemical industries. Applicant must submit curriculum vitae, two letters of recommendation, and research proposal. Preference is given to writers, journalists, educators, and historians of science, technology, and business.

Award is for historical research on the development of the chemical industries and for further understanding of the relationships between technology, policy, and entrepreneurship. Applicant must have a Ph.D. in history, history of science/technology, or a related field and must submit curriculum vitae, two letters of recommendation, and research proposal.

Priority given to an applicant who is an active historian club member and a degree- or certificate-seeking student majoring in history or an academic specialization or teaching field, enrolled in at least six semester hours, have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (undergraduates) or 3.5 cumulative GPA (graduates), have completed at least six semester hours of history at Texas A&M U - Texarkana and have a minimum 3.5 GPA (undergraduates) or 3.9 GPA (graduates) in history with no grade below "B" in history courses, and must be a resident of Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, or Texas residing in school's service area.

Applicants must be current OAH members and will be expected to enter into the life of their host university during the course of their brief visit by offering lectures or other public presentations, participating in symposia where appropriate, and consulting with faculty and students.
