The BECA Foundation offers two scholarships for Latino students in San Diego County, ranging from $500 to $2,000. These awards support high school graduates pursuing college anywhere in the U.S. and students preparing for medical or health care careers. Applications open in early fall.
BECA General Scholarship
- Amount: $500 - $1,000
- Who can apply: 2026 San Diego County high school graduates who will start college in fall 2026; can major in any field at any U.S. college
- Deadline: March 30
- How to apply: Submit an online application with two letters of recommendation, a personal statement, academic transcripts, and Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) from your Student Aid Report (SAR)
Alice Newell Joslyn Medical Scholarship
- Amount: $500 - $2,000
- Who can apply: Students entering medical or health care fields (such as dental/medical assistant, nursing, physical therapy, or pursuing B.S., Master’s, or Doctorate degrees in health); must live or attend college in San Diego County at application time
- Deadline: December 1
- How to apply: Submit an online application including two letters of recommendation, a personal statement, academic transcripts, and Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) from your Student Aid Report (SAR)
- Must demonstrate financial need, strong academic performance, and community or cultural awareness
- Scholarship recipients may reapply if they maintain scholastic progress
