Western Texas College

Founded in 1971, this two-year community college offers a yearly enrollment of 2,500 students. It offers a wide array of degree selections. The Vocational Nursing program is a Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board approved program. You can graduate from this program if you complete 12 months of their training. Upon graduation, you get a certificate from WTC and an eligibility to take the LVN state exam.

The 12-month program consists of both classroom and clinical instruction with the first few weeks spent inside a traditional classroom. Clinicals only begin during the second month with a setting in a Snyder medical facility. Tests are given and a student must pass at least 50% of these and have a grade of no less than 80 in order to graduate.

Students meet four days each week; from Monday till Thursday.

Trinity Valley Community College

This is a co-educational community college in Athens that was established in 1946. Formerly known as the Henderson County Junior College, this is a learning-centered school which provides the best in academics and community service programs. The LVN program can be taken through distance learning; weekend or evening classes; and the traditional classroom discussions.

Temple College

TC is a two-year, co-educational, public college that was established in the year 1926. It has several campuses in Downtown, Cameron, Waco and Taylor. There are more than 3,500 students that enroll in this school each year.

The Vocational Nursing program provides a certificate of completion. This is a 12-month training program which begins every summer and finishes in May.
