Becoming an LPN in Tennessee

Though the average LPN salary in Tennessee is 5% lower than the U.S. average; licensed practical nurses still make about $45,000 each annually. Tennessee LPNs also have the opportunity to increase their salaries over time as they gain more work experience. Those whose line of specialization is Urgent Care, the average salary is recorded at $49,000 annually. This just shows that you need to branch off to a nursing specialty in order to increase your chances at earning more. But before anything, you need to complete an 8-12 month LPN program which includes prerequisites in nutrition, biology, and college-level English.

Since the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development reported that the LPN vacancies will continue to grow, there isn't a better time to become a and LPN in Tennessee than now.

Here is a brife overview of two institutions that offer LPN program in Tennessee 

Tennessee Technology Center – Pulaski

TTC-Pulaski’s Practical Nursing program teaches nursing fundamentals through classroom and clinical trainings. You would need to invest 12 months of your time to finish the program with it resulting in a LPN diploma. The school operates on a trimester schedule.

Tennessee Technology Center – Alamo

This is a two-year public institution that has a 20:1 student teacher ratio. Though it is a small campus, its Practical Nursing program has paved the way to many LPN careers. It takes less than two years to finish the PN program.

The curriculum is different from campus to campus. Though every unit is required by the Tennessee State Board of Nursing, the total number of hours for each unit could change.
