LPN Programs in Michigan

Earning a Practical Nursing certificate is possible at select public colleges in the state of Michigan. The state has 35 LPN programs to offer which normally includes coursework in health, writing and psychology. Practical nursing students in Michigan are required to maintain their Basic Life Support certification while studying the PN program. Following your completion of the program, you become eligible to take the licensure exam for practical nurses.

Oakland Community College

The OCC is a school that serves more than 74,000 students across Michigan and throughout the world. Oakland Community College is awarded the 14th biggest college in the U.S.. The Practical Nursing program prepares students to receive their certification, license and continuing education. The program is offered in Southfield campus.

Lansing Community College

This is a two-year public community college that was established in 1957. Its main campus is situated in downtown Lansing and it sprawls across 42 acres of land. The college also has a west campus that is located in Delta Township, which is southwest of Lansing. There are more than 30,000 students that enroll each year.

The school's LPN program is Michigan Board of Nursing approved since 1970. The curriculum consists of 21-25 general education semester credits and 23 nursing course semester credits.

Mid Michigan Community College

MMCC is a two-year public college that operates two campuses. One is located in Harrison and the other one is at Mount Pleasant. Founded in the year 1965, the college offers more than 60 degree and certificate programs in diverse fields of study.

The Practical Nursing program was designed to be completed within 37 weeks after the completion of prerequisites. The curriculum covers essential topics such as Anatomy and Physiology, fundamentals of practical nursing, pharmacology, dosage calculations and medication administration, adult medical surgical nursing, mental health concepts, and more.

 

Upon successful completion of the program, graduates are prepared to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN) and enter the workforce in various healthcare settings.
