LPN Programs in Alabama

The programs at the Alabama southern are tailor made to suit individuals with different qualifications. The LPN program course work is designed to be covered in one year. Courses taken include Fundamentals of Nursing, Pharmacology, Anatomy and Physiology, Mental health, Health assessment, Pediatric and Adult Nursing among others. A mobility program is also offered for LPN to RN.

Application Requirements

The deadline for application to the PN program is March 1st to get admitted  the following fall semester and November 1st for the following spring semester. The application for students wishing to pursue the ADN program, the deadline is March 1^st. For upward mobility track 1 the deadline is 1 November and 1^st March for track 2. Other requirements are that an applicant must have passed the TEAS V prior to application, Minimum of 2.50 GPA based on the last 24 credit hours, among other requirements.

All applicants must be willing to submit to a drug screen test and also criminal background check. Interested parties are advised to check the specific academic prerequisites for each program before application.

Approved and accredited by both Alabama Board of Nursing and the NLNAC, Bevill State Community College offers the following LPN and ADN programs.

The college admits students to LPN certificate program as well as mobility program: LPN to RN. Application for the program, which begins in spring, should be submitted by September 1st. LPN program at BSCC is very competitive and attaining the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission. The program is conducted in 3-4 semesters, a total of 1680 contact hours (72 credit hours). Classes, lab, or clinical experience may sometimes be conducted during weekends or evenings.

The curriculum at BSCC is very dynamic. Students are taught both general education courses and nursing courses. The aim is to impart academic and professional skills that are valuable to a health practitioner. The nursing process, critical thinking, safety, ethical-legal issues are some core courses taught.

Admission Requirements

At BSCC, admission to different programs is competitive. Some of the mandatory requirements to be eligible for admission are; an applicant must have passed the TEAS V prior to applying. Similarly BSCC is obliged to conduct a criminal background check. Student must also submit to drug and alcohol screening.

The Licensed Practical Nursing program is designed to produce graduates who are caring, knowledgeable and competitive in the job market. The college ensures this by having suitably qualified instructors, modern laboratories and clinical experiences. The FSCC licensed nursing program is accredited by the NLNAC. After successfully graduating, students may apply to take the NCLEX-PN.

The LPN program is offered as a full time day program. Students are supposed to complete the 50 credit hours in 3 semesters as per the schedule. Both general and nursing knowledge is imparted on the students to increase their technical skills required in the nursing profession.

Core courses in the curriculum include the Fundamentals of Nursing, Pharmacology, Adult Nursing, Maternal and Child Nursing, Psychosocial Nursing and Role transition. The program starts at the fall semester and is offered at Fairhope campus. The deadline for application to the program is June 1.

Admission Requirments

The Nursing program is highly competitive. Prospective students must apply to be considered for admission. Similarly, prior to application, a student must have passed the TEAS V examination. Students are highly advised to seek the services of a nursing advisor who will advise them accordingly on matters related to our LPN program.

The college offers review to students prior to taking the NCLEX exams. The review ensures students are adequately prepared for the examination.

Gadsen State Community College offers practical nursing program at the Valley Street Campus, the Gadsden State Cherokee and at the McClellan Center. The Valley Street Campus admission starts in the fall and in the spring semesters. For the McClellan centre and Gadsden State Cherokee, admission is in the fall.

Admission Requirements

Admission to the practical nursing program is very competitive. Applicants must meet the general admission requirement of the college. Additionally minimum 2.5 grade point average and official score on Test of Essential Academic Skills Version, TEAS V are other key requirements.

The LPN program is approved by the Alabama Board of Nursing and graduates who successfully complete the program may apply to take the NCLEX-PN. It also has got accreditation from NLNAC.

The program exposes students to clinical experiences at area hospitals and health care agencies. The practical lessons include adult health, maternal health, child health, orthopaedics and geriatrics.

The program is estimated to run for 3 terms which is an equivalent of 46 credit hours. Admission to the college is usually done at the start of each term: in the fall (August), spring in January or the summer in May.

The aim of the practical nursing program is two fold. The first being to ensure that students acquire necessary skills and knowledge. The other is to adequately prepare graduates take and pass the National Licensure Examination.

The Practical nursing program admits students in the three semesters.Deadlines for application to the fall semester is July 1^st,spring semester is October 1^st while the summer semester is March 15. The whole program is meant to take 49 credit hours.

Requirements

Admission to the program is subject to several requirements. Among the requirements is that a students must have passed the TEAS V exam before application. Also a student must meet the essential functions or technical standards required for nursing. And you should note that meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission.

The program has approval from the Alabama Board of Nursing. After graduating students may apply to take the (NCLEX-PN) examination. Admission to the program is usually in the fall semester. The program lasts for three semesters.

To be eligible for admission, applicants should meet the minimum admission requirements set by the college. Some of the requirements include a minimum of 2.5 cumulative GPA on all college work attempted or a minimum 2.5 high school GPA for students without college work. Eligibility for English 101 and Math 116 as set by the college. An applicant must also have completed the TEAS V entrance exam. Due to the competitiveness of the program, the college may adjust or use additional criteria to admit students.

The deadline for application to the program is April 1^st. Applicants must be willing to undertake a drug screening test and also criminal background check. For the 2013-2014 academic year, the PN application deadline is April 15, 2013.

The LPN program provided by Reid State Technical College is structured to meet the demands of both full-time and part-time students. For the full time day program, the course duration is three semesters while the part time students take four semesters. The diploma program has the approval of the Alabama Board of Nursing. Students, who complete the program satisfactorily, become eligible to seat at NCLEX PN exam.

The program is offered at two sites. The main campus in Evergreen and an off campus site located in Atmore. In both campuses part time and full time classes are offred. The curriculum is also the same.

The aim of the practical nursing program is to impart requisite technical skills and knowledge to students to enable them gain employment as entry level licensed practical nurses.

Admission

For full time students, enrolment is usually during fall and spring semesters during the first term while part time students can enrol in any semeter. Applicants are also subject to criminal background check and drug screening. Applying students must have completed the TEAS-V (The Test of Essential Academic Skills). The exams results are used to determine the cut off criteria for college admission.
