At Alabama Southern, the nursing program is taught by qualified instructors in state of the art laboratories. Individual attention and assistance is guaranteed. The college has an approval from the Alabama Board of Nursing and accreditation from the NALAC for it’s AND program.

The programs at the Alabama southern are tailor made to suit individuals with different qualifications. The LPN program course work is designed to be covered in one year. Courses taken include Fundamentals of Nursing, Pharmacology, Anatomy and Physiology, Mental health, Health assessment, Pediatric and Adult Nursing among others. A mobility program is also offered for LPN to RN.

Application Requirements

The deadline for application to the PN program is March 1st to get admitted  the following fall semester and November 1st for the following spring semester. The application for students wishing to pursue the ADN program, the deadline is March 1st. For upward mobility track 1 the deadline is 1 November and 1st March for track 2. Other requirements are that an applicant must have passed the TEAS V prior to application, Minimum of 2.50 GPA based on the last 24 credit hours, among other requirements.

All applicants must be willing to submit to a drug screen test and also criminal background check. Interested parties are advised to check the specific academic prerequisites for each program before application.

Approved and accredited by both Alabama Board of Nursing and the NLNAC, Bevill State Community College offers the following LPN and ADN programs.

The college admits students to LPN certificate program as well as mobility program: LPN to RN. Application for the program, which begins in spring, should be submitted by September 1st. LPN program at BSCC is very competitive and attaining the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission. The program is conducted in 3-4 semesters, a total of 1680 contact hours (72 credit hours). Classes, lab, or clinical experience may sometimes be conducted during weekends or evenings.

The curriculum at BSCC is very dynamic. Students are taught both general education courses and nursing courses. The aim is to impart academic and professional skills that are valuable to a health practitioner. The nursing process, critical thinking, safety, ethical-legal issues are some core courses taught.

Admission Requirements

At BSCC, admission to different programs is competitive. Some of the mandatory requirements to be eligible for admission are; an applicant must have passed the TEAS V prior to applying. Similarly BSCC is obliged to conduct a criminal background check. Student must also submit to drug and alcohol screening.

Central Alabama Community College offers affordable & quality nursing programs in the division of nursing and allied health.

The associate degree’s nursing program is accredited by NLNAC. In addition, both LPN and ADN programs are approved by the Alabama Board of Nursing. 

The college has several admission practises that apply to different programs.  The practical nursing program admits students during the summer term only. The practical nursing students can attend classes on either Childersburg or Alexander City Campus. . February 1 is the deadline for application to be considered. Those accepted to study the Associate Degree in Nursing are admitted in fall term on the CB campus. Note that April 1 is the deadline for applications to this program. For students applying to the Mobility program, the deadline is October 1.

Requirements for admission

To be eligible for admission to a program, certain requirements are mandatory. Some of them are

  • Official TEAS V Score
  • Compass/ACT Scores
  • Transcripts from any accredited colleges you attended
  • Transcript from your High School or GED Score
  • Copy of Current CPR certificate – Healthcare Provider level

The above list is not exhaustive, interested applicants are required to familiarize themselves with all admission requirements before applying. Secondly, applicants must be willing to submit to a criminal background check and also undergo a drug screening test. Remember, the TEAS are used to determine a student’s readiness to undertake the program. Students should treat the exam with extra seriousness since the score is used to calculate the points for admission.

The Licensed Practical Nursing program is designed to produce graduates who are caring, knowledgeable and competitive in the job market. The college ensures this by having suitably qualified instructors, modern laboratories and clinical experiences. The FSCC licensed nursing program is accredited by the NLNAC. After successfully graduating, students may apply to take the NCLEX-PN.

The LPN program is offered as a full time day program. Students are supposed to complete the 50 credit hours in 3 semesters as per the schedule. Both general and nursing knowledge is imparted on the students to increase their technical skills required in the nursing profession.

Core courses in the curriculum include the Fundamentals of Nursing, Pharmacology, Adult Nursing, Maternal and Child Nursing, Psychosocial Nursing and Role transition. The program starts at the fall semester and is offered at Fairhope campus. The deadline for application to the program is June 1.

Admission Requirments

The Nursing program is highly competitive. Prospective students must apply to be considered for admission. Similarly, prior to application, a student must have passed the TEAS V examination. Students are highly advised to seek the services of a nursing advisor who will advise them accordingly on matters related to our LPN program.

The college offers review to students prior to taking the NCLEX exams. The review ensures students are adequately prepared for the examination.

The practical nursing program is offered at Wallace and Sparks campuses. After graduating from the college, the LPN may make application for the NCLEX-PN exam. The LPN program takes a total duration of 3 semesters.The applications are accepted twice a year for entry in fall and spring semesters.

The LPN program provided by Reid State Technical College is structured to meet the demands of both full-time and part-time students.
