Lawson State Community College - Birmingham
Located in the southwestern section of Birmingham, Lawson State community college was established in 1949 with a mission of offering both academic and technical/career programs. LSCC is a historically black college (HBCU) which offers over 60 programs including practical nursing and associate's degree in nursing. The ADN program was started in 1970 and it has been responsible for adding over 1000 nurses into the healthcare field in its 4 decade-long existence. Since its formation in 1973, the LPN program at Lawson state also produced 1000s of dedicated nurses. The college also offers mobility programs for students who wish to advance their career from LPN to registered nurse.
