Nursing Schools in Alabama

The state of Alabama has a fairly large number of nursing schools that provide excellent nursing programs. Most of the schools offer a 2-year ADN program which usually has a bridge or career mobility option for LPNs and other medical professionals such as paramedics/EMTs.

When it comes to NCLEX, schools in Alabama seem to be doing really well, preparing students for the NCLEX-PN exam. As you can see in the chart below, for the past 10 years, the sate's average NCLEX-PN pass rate has been well above the national average.

In 2016 the Alabama board of nursing approved one of its kind program that allows veterans of the United States Armed Forces to become LPN so long as they have experience in the healthcare field and managed to pass the NCLEX-PN.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Alabama's hospitals and medical centers pay around $57k on average for RNs and $37k for LPNs. The pay varies slightly from city to city but the main factor that determines nurses' salary is experience followed by the institution type you working for.

The state of Alabama is home to 52 nursing schools. This year, we evaluated 43 schools and our ranking system identified the following nursing schools as the best value schools in Alabama. Nursingexplorer.com's ranking system is data-driven. We only use quantifiable data (such as NCLEX pass rate and average net price) to calculate the ranks. Learn more about our nursing schools ranking system here.
