Minimum cumulative GPA 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

TEAS and HESI are not required
Prerequisites
Science prerequisites (4 semester hours / 6 quarter hours each): Human Anatomy (A&P I) or Anatomy, Human Physiology (A&P II) or Physiology, General Chemistry, Microbiology; these four must be completed within the last 10 years
Non-science prerequisites: General Sociology 3 semester hours, General Psychology 3, Developmental (lifespan) Psychology 3, Ethics 3, Statistics 3, Human Nutrition 2–3
Minimum grade C (2.0) in each prerequisite course
Two of the following must be completed before application deadline: General Chemistry, Human Anatomy (A&P I), Human Physiology (A&P II)
All prerequisites must be completed prior to program start, preferably 45 days in advance
CLEP credit not accepted; AP accepted only if listed as transfer credit on official transcript; courses graded P accepted only if lowest possible P equals C (2.0) or higher

Required documents: completed application, official transcripts from all institutions, personal statement addressing five specific prompts (approx. 200 words each), names/contact information for three references

Selection Process
Admissions committee reviews complete applications; decisions released on a rolling basis until each deadline
Admission decisions consider cumulative GPA, prerequisite grades, personal statement, and references
Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission
Cohort capacity: Omaha up to 48 students, Phoenix up to 56 students
Waitlists may be formed after each application deadline if qualified applicants exceed available seats

Total tuition for entire program: $55,425 (2025–2026)

Clinical hours: over 900 clinical hours across the program
Clinical specialties: Critical Care, Community and Population Health, Labor and Delivery/Obstetrics, Medical-Surgical, Pediatrics, Psychiatric and Mental Health
Omaha clinical sites include CHI Health, Methodist Health System, Children’s Hospital and Medical Center, Omaha VA Medical Center, and community-based locations
Phoenix clinical sites include Dignity Health, Valleywise Health, Destiny Springs Healthcare, Aurora Behavioral Health, Children’s Rehabilitative Services, and other partners
Omaha simulation facility: CL and Rachel Werner Center for Health Sciences Education; Phoenix simulation instruction at facility in Phoenix Medical Quarter
Credit Transfer
Prerequisite and coursework may be transferred from accredited institutions if semester/quarter hours meet requirements
AP credit accepted only if posted as transfer credit on official transcript
Courses graded P accepted only if lowest possible grade for P is C (2.0) or higher
CLEP credit not accepted
Coursework from institutions outside the U.S. requires course-by-course evaluation from an evaluation agency and official evaluation sent to NursingCAS
International Students
F-1 visas supported for Omaha and Phoenix campuses upon admission
International transcripts require course-by-course evaluation and official evaluations must be sent to NursingCAS
English proficiency minimum scores for applicants with degrees from outside the U.S.: TOEFL 100, IELTS 7, Duolingo 120; scores over two years old not accepted
Applicants from specified countries may petition for an English proficiency waiver (list of countries provided by program)
Final prerequisite transcripts with grades required by Office of Admissions at least 60 days prior to term start for I-20 issuance

Clinical & Simulation Lab
Clinical training hours: 760 hours required
Clinical experiences include rotations at area medical centers, hospitals, and other health facilities
Simulation experiences provided through college clinical training facilities and simulators
Kearney campus option: immersive clinical pathway with all clinical experiences completed within a single health system and an on-site designated clinical instructor
Clinical partnership sites for Kearney immersive option: Great Plains Health (North Platte) and Mary Lanning Healthcare (Hastings); partner support available for tuition and for tuition and housing (Great Plains Health)
Credit Transfer
College may accept transfer credit from accredited institutions; College of Nursing is final authority on granting and applying transfer credit
Transfer credits recorded with no grade or quality points; grades from transfer courses may be considered for admission purposes
All prerequisite credits must be transferable to the University of Nebraska
