Program Length & Format

• 5 consecutive semesters for students with a bachelor’s degree

Admission Requirements

• Must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited program with a minimum 3.0 GPA
• Must pass the TEAS exam with a minimum score of 70.0%
• Must complete all learning support courses
• Must have a minimum GPA of 2.8 in specific core courses

Entrance Exams

Program Length & Format

Wait List Policies

• Applicants considered for each cohort until cohort capacity is reached and application closes
• Applicants may apply to only one entry semester at a time; requests to move application to a different cohort require contact with enrollment office and may require a new application

Cost & Financial Aid

• Estimated program cost: approximately $82,000, billed per semester at a credit hour rate
• Additional charges: per-semester online fee and one-time laboratory fee
• Provided in tuition and fees: on-campus visit travel and hotel for required Atlanta visits, NCLEX review and assessment testing; textbook/materials budget targeted at $1,500 for entire program
• Financial aid: more than 92% of School of Nursing students receive some form of financial assistance; federal loan eligibility may remain for students who have unused loan eligibility from a prior degree

Clinical & Simulation Lab

• Clinical placements: assigned by Emory in student’s local area; placements not guaranteed
• Clinical supervision: one-to-one preceptor assignments with a DABSN clinical faculty site visitor for oversight
• On-campus simulation and skills: conducted during first on-campus visit (skills, simulation, first hospital-based clinical) and final capstone visit (simulations, capstone presentations, NCLEX review)
• Travel, lodging, and a meal allowance for required on-campus visits included in tuition and fees

International Students

• International academic records require evaluation by World Education Services (WES)
• English language testing required if English is a second language (TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo)

Program Length & Format

Selection Process

• Applications reviewed by Admission Committee shortly after application deadline
• Applicants notified of acceptance status approximately one month after the application deadline
• Applications missing required documents by the deadline will not be reviewed
• Selection criteria include Nursing GPA (minimum 2.80), HESI score (minimum 75%), grades in Area F science courses, patterns of course withdrawal, grades of D/F, written communication ability, and availability of clinical sites and faculty

Credit Transfer

• Transfer applicants receive a letter of acceptance and transcript evaluation upon admission to GSW
• Official transcripts required on file before beginning nursing classes
• Applicants enrolled in courses at other institutions must list those courses on the nursing application and submit final official and unofficial transcripts verifying final grades as soon as available

International Students

• TOEFL test scores required if first language is not English unless exemption by completing English Composition I and II with at least a C at a regionally accredited U.S. institution

Admission Requirements

• Must be admitted to Kennesaw State University as an undergraduate degree-seeking student before submitting nursing application
• Must hold a prior bachelor's degree in another field from an accredited U.S. institution or equivalent international degree, or be currently enrolled in a first baccalaureate degree to be awarded before program start
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 at the nursing application deadline
• Successful completion of 11 prerequisite courses with a minimum grade of C in each prior to beginning the program
• Must complete at least 7 of the 11 prerequisite courses before the nursing application deadline, with at least 5 from math and science prerequisites

Entrance Exams

• ATI TEAS exam required; score must be within 5 years of the nursing application deadline
• TEAS can be taken in-person or remotely; register and submit scores via ATI
• ATI requires a 14-day waiting period between attempts; WSON reviews the highest valid score submitted by the deadline
• TEAS score of 78 or higher is strongly recommended; historical accepted-score range averages 84–86

Prerequisites

• All 11 prerequisite courses must be completed prior to starting the program; minimum grade C in each
• Core Field of Study courses: PSYC 1101; STAT 1401; BIOL 2251 + lab; BIOL 2252 + lab; BIOL 2260 + lab
• Core IMPACTS requirements counted as prerequisites: two Communication in Writing courses; one Mathematics & Quantitative Skills course; one Social Sciences course

Deadlines

• Spring admission: nursing application must be submitted between February 1 and August 10 for admission in January following the deadline
• Fall admission: nursing application must be submitted between August 15 and January 31 for admission in August following the deadline
• Transfer applicants should have all official transcripts and exam credits sent to KSU Registrar at least 3 months before the nursing application deadline

Application

• Nursing application is separate from KSU admissions; students must be admitted to KSU before accessing the BSN application
• Effective Fall 2026 application cycle: BSN application located on Student Apps
• Only one nursing application allowed per admission cycle; applicants must select Accelerated Program on the application and indicate degree status
• Official transcripts, transfer and exam credits must be received and entered in DegreeWorks by the nursing application deadline
• Applicants previously dismissed from another nursing program must email a letter explaining dismissal to Nursing Admissions for eligibility review

Selection Process

• Admission decisions made by the Nursing Admissions, Progression, and Retention committee
• Selection based on combination of number of prerequisite courses completed at deadline, grades in those courses, cumulative GPA, and ATI TEAS score
• Admissions review begins after the nursing application deadline; estimated review completion goal is 2–3 months (timeline may vary)
• Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission; external materials such as letters of recommendation or licenses are not considered

Clinical & Simulation Lab

• Clinical assignments in-person and may occur any day of the week, including nights and weekends
• Clinical agency credentialing requirements (including vaccination requirements) must be met to attend clinicals; agency decisions on exemptions are not controlled by WSON
• Students are randomly assigned clinical days; scheduling preferences are not accommodated
• Reliable personal transportation required for assigned clinical locations

Credit Transfer

• Transfer and exam credits for prerequisites must be transferred to and verified by KSU Registrar and entered in DegreeWorks by the nursing application deadline to be considered
• Nursing (NURS) course credits from other programs are rarely transferable; if considered, courses must be from an accredited nursing program, completed within the past two years, earn a grade of B or better, and be evaluated by the WSON Associate Dean/Director or designee
• WSON follows the Office of the Registrar’s transfer equivalency policies but retains final authority over core field of study requirements
• Science prerequisite courses older than 10 years are not accepted unless a KSU-approved challenge option is completed and approved

International Students

• Applicants with an international bachelor’s degree may apply if the degree is equivalent to a U.S. baccalaureate
• International transcripts and exam credits must be sent to KSU Registrar and entered in DegreeWorks by the nursing application deadline

• No fee to apply to the WSON nursing program
• Nursing major requires 57 credit hours; total BSN degree requirement typically 120 credit hours
