York College

There are two nursing programs that are offered here – the entry-level or generic BSN program and the RN to BSN bridge program for graduates of diploma or Associate’s degree programs.

York College’s Baccalaureate nursing program offers a liberal-arts based education for its enrollees. This guides the student in attaining the necessary skills, knowledge and values in nursing.

The two tracks in their Nursing programs include the RN to Baccalaureate program and the generic Baccalaureate program which is designed to prepare nursing professionals that can pass the NCLEX-RN.

All Nursing programs in this school are taught by Master’s and Doctoral degree holders that have had many years of clinical experiences. Their BSN program is also accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission or NLNAC.

New York University

NYU’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree program comes in the 15 or 18-month options. An applicant who wants to enroll in this program must first have a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 or higher. Also, students should complete all the prerequisite courses such as human anatomy and physiology I and II; microbiology; chemistry; statistics; introduction to Child Development; Adult Development; and Principles of Nutrition, to name a few.

Applicants need to submit their NYUCN application form in their senior year in high school. NYU also requires the submission of TOR or transcript of records. The university has the option to turn down an application based on their calculation of the student’s science and non-science GPA. An offer of admission may even be withdrawn when the university learns that the applicant failed to meet requirements in any degree.

There are more than 50 BSN programs in New York at the moment.
