BSN programs in Texas prepare competent nurses and focus on fundamental nursing knowledge and skills. The coursework that is needed to complete this program ranges from humanistic courses, general education and science classes (namely physiology, anatomy, biology and chemistry).

University of Texas – Austin
With a growing student population of almost 51,000, this university is the largest branch so far for the UT School System. Their four-year public research institution ranked 15th on the United States News & World Report’s list for the Top Public Universities for 2009.
UT’s traditional BSN degree program is a four-year program which combines theoretical and practical learning in the nursing field. It offers graduates with the right educational background in organized health care, patient care, as well as the means to pass the NCLEX-RN. A graduate also has the option to continue his studies and enroll in the Master of Science in Nursing.
Earning a BSN degree at the University of Texas means completing introductory courses in chemistry, biology, physiology including advanced courses in adult healthcare, clinical nursing skills and nursing management.
University of Texas – Arlington
This is the second largest school in the state that offers the BSN degree program. The UT, in general, is a four-year public school that is situated in the city of Arlington. It has 11 academic schools which include the College of Nursing.
Its traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing program has goal to prepare undergraduates to sit through the NCLEX-RN and for them to become successful registered nurses. A student that is enrolled in the program gains an understanding of the RN’s role in the healthcare field. Freshman and sophomore classes cover the basic courses such as medical and scientific principles. Upper level classes study more specific clinical skills as well as patient assessment methods in nursing.
