Western Illinois University
It was in the year 2007 when the Illinois Board of Higher Education(IBHE) has given its approval for WIU to offer the BSN program. The faculty at WIU is known for its research, teaching, academic and nursing practice excellence. The nursing resource center has computer simulators with a state-of-the-art programming. These enable the students to have a hands-on experience of their new skills prior to entering the healthcare environment.
University of Illinois at Chicago
The UIC BSN program has two tracks. The traditional BSN program in admits both freshman students and students who have completed57 hours of college level coursework. It is a competitive program with a curriculum that incorporates classroom instruction and practical learning. Once admitted, a student usually takes two years to complete the upper level courses when studying full-time. Both the Urbana and Chicago campuses offer the BSN program. UIC's BSN Completion Program is an online program.
Southern Illinois University Edwardsville
This public university teaches nursing through its BSN program comprising of active classroom discussions. They also offer the latest in simulation labs where students are guaranteed to take their clinicals. One-on-one mentoring is also available.
The traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing program is meant for students who seek their first degree and have no previous college experience. It is offered at the SIUE campus through the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Regional Nursing Program at the SIU Carbondale.
