The Alderson-Broaddus College Department of Nursing RN-BSN Degree program is intended for students who already possess an Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing.
The RN-BSN program is designed to be flexible to meet the demands of a busy professional schedule and other responsibilities. Classes are arranged to meet one weekend every month throughout the year at convenient locations.
Admissions Requirements:
Applicants who don’t meet some of the admissions requirements may be accepted on a provisional basis.
Students taking the program on a full time study basis can complete the program in an estimated 18 months. The program offers opportunities of converting past training and work experiences into credit towards the program.
The program also offers students opportunities to meet in seminar type settings whereby they can benefit from the range of experiences that other people can bring.
Students are required to complete 128 credits to graduate from the program with 25 credits of nursing credit to have been taken at Alderson Broaddus College.
The Marshall University nursing program prepares nurse practitioners eligible to sit for the National Licensure Examination to become licensed Registered Nurses.
The program consists of a combination of basic nursing theory and clinical practice experience. The program makes uses of a range of healthcare facilities as real life sites for clinical experience including: River Park Hospital, HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital, Cabell Hun-tington Hospital, Pleasant Valley Hospital, Veterans Administration Medical Center, St. Mary’s Medical Center, Holzer Medical Center, and King’s Daughters Medical Center among other settings.
Admission Requirements:
Applications are reviewed on a competitive basis on a point system. The deadline for applications is the 15th of January for admission in the fall.
Marshall University offers an accelerated RN-BSN program for Registered Nurses wishing to earn their BSN degree. Applicants for this track must show proof of an unencumbered license to practice in West Virginia and a minimum cumulative GPA for all college level course work of 2.4 or more.
There is no deadline for application for this track but all application material needs to be received before the 10th of April for fall admission and before the 10th of October for spring admission.
The Shepherd University Nursing Education program is designed to educate professional nurses to enter the field of nursing as generalists through different tracks.
The program is accredited by the West Virginia Board of Examiners for Registered Professional Nurses and the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission.

The nursing program at Shepherd also offers an RN-BSN track that allows for professional development for nurse practitioners. Admission to the program requires official transcript for all college level course work in addition to all program specific requirements that are required for students admitted through the traditional entry track.
The West Virginia Wesleyan College University Bachelor of Science in Nursing is a program preparing students for a career in the nursing profession. The program is accredited by the Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing.
Students are prepared for the theoretical and practical aspects of a career in nursing forming the foundation for professional nursing and further graduate studies.
Graduates from the program are eligible to apply to sit for National Examinations for licensing to obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse.
Admissions Requirements:
Registered Nurses are admitted to the program on the basis of academic records and the availability of space. Registered Nurses applying to the program are required a minimum of a 2.5 GPA or higher for all college level coursework and an unencumbered license to practice.
