Associate Degree in Nursing in the State of Florida is mainly a two-year program that is offered in community and junior colleges. The tuition varies per school but the nature of the program centers on required courses such as social sciences, communication, nursing theory and practice. These classes are done in long-term care facilities, hospitals, clinics and other health care settings.

If you are looking for the best nursing schools to take you in, here are some of them –

College of Central Florida

The ADN program equips graduates with nursing skills and knowledge that will help them become the best in nursing care. When the program is completed, the student becomes eligible to take the licensure examination (NCLEX-RN).

Prior to the enrollment, the college requires a professional level CPR card that should remain current throughout the duration of the program. An applicant is also required to undergo the criminal background check; any negative record demerits the applicant’s acceptance into the program.

The college’s limited ADN program is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission and approved by the Florida Board of Nursing.  General education courses include human nutrition, psychology, microbiology, college algebra (or elementary statistics), human anatomy and physiology.

The student has the option to complete the program full or part-time. With the first option, the students are given four semesters to complete their nursing courses which they can take together with their general education courses. With the part-time option, a student can take all the general education courses before starting with the Introduction to Nursing and Nursing 1 courses.

Daytona State College

This college offers the ADN program which is a two-year course of study. After earning the degree, the graduate becomes eligible to take the NCLEX or National Examination for Licensure as a Registered Nurse. This program is nationally accredited by the NLNAC or National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission.

To apply, the student must submit his high school diploma or its GED equivalent. Those who want to apply for financial aid may also inquire during the college orientation. This orientation may be completed online. A grade of 2.5 or higher is required for each applicant.

General education and core program electives should be completed by every student in accordance with the ADN program of study prior to graduation. Prerequisite courses should be graded with a C or higher in order for the student to continue with the program.
