The Bellevue College Associate in Applied Science Transfer Degree in Nursing is designed to prepare students for the national licensure examination as well as offering an opportunity for continued education. The program incorporates theoretical instruction in general education and science courses as well as clinical experience practice.

The curriculum is offered in a 6 quarter format for full time students with classes and laboratory sessions scheduled during the day. Clinical practice hours will vary depending on the availability of facilities. The quarter format is particularly fitted to students who need to balance professional and other responsibilities as the same time as attending the program part time.

Part time students can complete the curriculum in 10 quarters with classes and laboratory sessions offered on the weekends and in the evenings.

Admission Requirements:

  • Bellevue college application and application for the nursing program
  • TEAS V
  • COMPASS E test
  • Transcripts for pre-requisite general education courses (all general education credits (39 credits) need to be completed before enrolling in the program)
  • Cumulative Grade Point Average of 2.0 or higher
  • Interview with admission Committee

Applicants will also be expected to submit immunization records, criminal record disclosure and current CPR certification for healthcare providers.

Applicants seeking admission as full time students in the fall semester will be notified in April and May while applicants seeking admission on a part time basis will receive notification in December or January.

The Clark College ADN Program prepares graduates to offer professional care in a range of healthcare facilities.  The program is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission. The program combines theoretical in class instruction with practical experience in the laboratory and in clinical settings.  

Graduates from the program will be awarded an Associate in Applied Science degree in Nursing and are eligible to apply to sit for the National Council Examination for Licensing as a registered nurse.

Students can pursue additional credits to earn an Associate of Arts Degree or transfer credits to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.  

Admission Requirements:

  • All official transcripts (college level coursework credit needs to be evaluated for transcript evaluation)
  • Pre-requisite courses must be completed with a 3.0 Grade Point Average

Applicants will be notified of additional requirements upon the preliminary evaluation is completed. The program is a competitive program with limited acceptance.

Students accepted into the program will be required to attend a mandatory orientation. Students who don’t attend the orientation will forfeit their position.  
Students entering into the program are also required to submit proof of physical examination, documentation of immunizations series, submit to criminal background check before enrollment in their classes.

The Clover Park Technical College Nursing program prepares students to perform the duties of a Registered Nurse. The program is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities.

The program is designed to allow practicing Licensed Practical Nurses to gain the additional education to progress to a Registered Nurse. The LPN-RN to program takes into consideration previous experience in combination with lectures and clinical experience over the course of the four quarter program.

Admission Requirements:

  • Submit all official certificates
  • Complete General Education requirements (a minimum of a ‘B’ grade or higher is required)
  • Current and unencumbered LPN license
  • Physical Examination
  • Immunization Series including seasonal immunizations (Required immunizations (Hepatitis B, Tetanus/Diphtheria, MMR, Varicella TB 2-step TB screening)

Applications for the program need to be submitted by the 25th of June of the year of proposed enrollment. New applicants are only admitted in the fall quarter.

Applicants accepted into the program are expected to submit to a local and national criminal background check and a current CPR for healthcare providers according to the guidelines established by the American Heart Association.

Students in the program are also required to carry personal health and medical insurance through the course of clinical practice rotations as precondition to admittance at clinical sites.

The Columbia Basin College Nursing program offers quality nursing education to prepare students for the National Council Licensure Examination. The program is Career Ladder Nursing Program accredited by the National League for Nursing.

Classes are offered at the Richland Health Science Center with clinical practice experience offered at a range of healthcare facilities in the local area. State of the art practical laboratories are offered on campus as a complement to practical experience at external clinical settings.

CBC offers two entry opportunities into the program. The first entry point is designed for students with no previous nursing experience and the second opportunity is offered to Licensed Practical Nurses seeking Advanced Placement transferring credit for the coursework they have completed.

Students can exit the program at the end of each year. Students who exit the program in the first year are eligible to acquire a Practical Nurse Certificate, (and are also eligible to sit for the licensure examination to be licensed as a LPN) and students who successfully complete the second year receive an Associate in Applied Science Degree and are eligible to sit for the State Board Licensure Examination to be licensed as Registered Nurse.

The program admits an estimated 50 students every year in the fall system. Deadline for applications is in the March of the proposed year of entry. The program considers Grade Point Average, TEAS pre-Nursing Exam scores and completion of prerequisite courses in processing applications for admissions.

The Lake Washington Institute of Technology Nursing program prepares students for entry level positions in nursing. The program prepares students to sit for the National Licensure Examination to be licensed as a Registered Nurse.

There is a competitive and formal admissions process for entry into the ADN program. The number of application is usually more than the number of students that can be accepted in each enrollment period, therefore the program will evaluate applications to select the best candidates.

The Olympic College ADN program is a two year curriculum approved by the Washington State Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission, and accredited by the National League Nursing Accrediting Commission.

The curriculum consists of a combination of general education courses, theoretical nursing courses and clinical experience practice. Clinical experience is offered at a range of healthcare facilities in the local area.

Most students are able to complete the program in six quarters. Students are expected to earn a minimum GPA of 2.2 to progress to the next stage of the program or to graduate from the program upon completion.  

Graduates from the program are eligible to apply for the National Council Licensure Examination to be licensed as a Registered Nurse.

The Peninsula College ADN program is approved by the Washington State Board of Nursing and accredited by the National League of Nursing Accreditation Commission. Students who graduate from the two year curriculum are awarded an Associate Degree and are eligible to apply to sit for the State Board Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses.

The curriculum concentrates on critical thinking, as well as offering experiences for hands on practical experience in various clinical settings and in Laboratories. Assessment is carried out through multiple choice tests, written papers, math tests, journal assignments, instructor evaluation for clinical and laboratory practices, and self evaluation procedures.

Clinical rotations are offered in healthcare settings at various locations such as nursing homes and hospitals. Clinical hours are offered at different hours from 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM.

Applicants to the program are expected to show proof of ability to provide transportation to and from clinical sites as well as being able to cover outfitting and malpractice liability insurance.

The nursing curriculum is  highly demanding and it will be difficult to maintain full time employment at the same as being enrolled in the program.

The Renton College ADN program curriculum offers instruction in medical, geriatric, surgical, pediatric and obstetric nursing as well as additional instruction in pharmacology, health assessment and advanced clinical nursing processes.

Students are able to exit the program after successfully completing a year in the program and be eligible to receive an LPN certificate. Graduates who complete the program are eligible for licensure from the National licensing body and are able to take the Nurse Certificate.

Admission Requirements:

  • Applicants need to be eighteen years or older
  • High school diploma or GED equivalency certificate
  • Health insurance for injury and sickness
  • Current and unencumbered CNA license (six months of work experience as CNA is required)
  • HIV Training Certification
  • Current CPR certification for healthcare providers


Applicants are required to submit to national criminal background check as well as submitting proof of health requirements and immunizations series. Program prerequisites are required to be completed with a minimum of a 2.5 Grade Point Average with courses having been taken in the ten years before proposed enrollment.

The program is in the process of obtaining accreditation from the National League of Nursing.

Students who successfully complete the program are awarded the Associate in Applied Sciences Degree and are eligible to apply to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination.

The program is divided sequential with core requirements and program courses taken over a period three years of full time study.

There are four options for entry into the nursing program:

  • RN Generic full-time ADN option for students who have no nursing background
  • RN Generic part time  AAS Degree for students who don’t have a nursing background
  • RN Advanced Standing full time AAS Degree for LPNs
  • RN Advanced Standing part time AAS Degree for LPNS

Admissions Requirements:

Applicants are expected to meet all pre-requisite courses as well as meeting language and academic requirements. A minimum of a B grade (3.0 Grade Point Average) is required for all general education requirements.

The program has six levels based on the option that a student is enrolled in which will determine how long it takes the student to complete all levels.
