Blue Ridge Community and Technical College Associate of Science Degree in Nursing prepares students to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses to become professional care givers.
The program runs on a limited admission basis admitting 24 qualified candidates in the fall and spring semesters. The number of students admitted into the program is monitored by the West Virginia Board of Examiners for Registered Nurses.
The program gives priority to students with the highest academic scores because of the competitive nature of admission to the academically rigorous program.
Admissions Requirements:
Admission to the program will be based on academic records and overall GPA. All applicants need to complete all pre-requisite courses with a minimum of a ‘C’ grade and an overall cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.
Applicants will be notified of the status of their admission by letter. The school does not maintain a waiting list with the list of applicants dissolved on the first day of the semester.
Applicants accepted into the program will be required to submit to a criminal background check as students convicted of a felony or misdemeanor may be denied the opportunity to be licensed.
The Bluefield State College School of Nursing offers a range of qualifications in Nursing. The program is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
The Nursing school accepts students once a year on a limited admissions basis in line with the requirements of accreditation.
Applications for admission in the Associate Degree in Nursing Program in the fall semester are accepted between the 1st of September to the 15th of December and the file must be completed by the 31st of January of the year of admission.
Applications for the BSN program are accepted from the 1st of September and the 1st of March.

Students are expected to take responsibility for transportation between the college and healthcare facilities at which clinical practice will be offered.
The Fairmont State University School of Nursing offers an Associate of Science Degree in Nursing. The program is designed to offer quality education top prepare students for patient care in a healthcare setting.
The program consists of a balanced proportion of general education courses with nursing requirements.

Graduates from the program are eligible to apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination to be licensed as a Registered Nurse.
Admission Requirements:
Nursing applications should be submitted to the program by the 1st of December. Students who had applied in the past and were not accepted need to reapply because the college does not maintain a waiting list.
Applicants who have changed their name since earning their high school diploma or earned college credit need to inform the admissions office of the change in name.
The Salem International University School of Nursing is a designed on the basis of the career advancement pathway. The Salem practical nursing program meets the requirements the West Virginia State Board of Examiners for Licensed Practical Nurses.
The School of Nursing at Salem University offers an online Registered Nurse to BSN bridge degree completion program for licensed Registered nurses in good standing desiring to further their professional career by earning their BSN. The courses are offered online to ensure the maximum amount of flexibility to fit with the demands of a professional career.
The nursing program comprises of 66 semester credits and requires students to achieve a cumulative GPA of a minimum of 2.5 or higher to graduate. Students are also required earn a ‘C’ grade or above to maintain a 2.5 average for all nursing courses and meet the minimum score designated on the comprehensive final exam.
Graduates from the nursing program are eligible to apply to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination to be licensed as a Registered Nurse.

The nursing program has program specific requirements that include a recent physical assessment including the required immunizations, a criminal background check and references.
The West Virginia Northern Community College Nursing program prepares students to provide direct patient care in a range of healthcare settings.
The program has adopted the National League for Nursing Educational Core Competencies for Graduates of Associate Degree Nursing Programs.
Graduates from the program will be eligible to apply to sit for the National Council of State Boards of Nursing Licensure Exam to be licensed as a Registered Nurse.
Admission Requirements:
The program enrolls a limited number of candidates and applicants will be reviewed on the basis of their academic records, and standardized records.
The admission period for the semester beginning in August is between the 1st of October and the 1st of March and the admission period for classes beginning in January the admission period is between the 1st of October and the 1st of December the previous year. The program highly recommends early application.
A criminal background check is required as students convicted of a felony or a misdemeanor may be denied licensing or privileges to take part in clinical practice in some healthcare facilities.
The West Virginia University at Parkersburg A.A.S degree is intended to prepare students qualified for the structured healthcare setting. The program is approved by the West Virginia Board of Examiners for Registered Professional Nurses and is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission Inc.
Admission Requirements:
The admission deadline for fall admission is the 15th of March and the deadline for spring admission is the 15th of September. Students are admitted either as direct entry from high school or as transfers from a college program. The program will waive the need for ACT scores or ACCUPLACER scores for applicants who have a degree from an accredited institution.
Applicants who submit completed applications will be ranked according to a composite of their ACT and HESI scores as well as cumulative grade point averages. All applicants will be notified on the status of their application.
Successful applicants are required to submit documentation for a physical examination, drug screening and criminal background check. The college reserves the right to nullify the admission if students fail the drug screening or the criminal background check.
The school will dissolve the waiting list on the first day of class and students not accepted into the program will be required to reapply to the program for the next semester.
All students accepted into the program are required to attend a mandatory orientation sessions. Students who fail to attend the orientation will forfeit their place.
