CUNY Hostos Community College is located in Bronx, New York and is a member of the City University of New York (CUNY) community college system. The full name of this school is actually Eugenio Maria de Hostos Community College of the City University of New York. The school is named after a Puerto Rican writer, educator, and patriot. It. It was established back in 1968 as a way to meet the educational needs of the Puerto Rican and Hispanic community. This school has the distinction of offering many courses in Spanish as well as English. Currently, the college serves over 6500 students and there are many associate’s degree programs and a few certificate programs for students to take part in.
The Hostos Community College offers a practical nursing certificate program as well as an associate’s degree in nursing program. The practical nursing program is designed to take three semesters and the associate’s degree program is designed to be completed in five semesters. Both programs are designed to give nursing students a complete education that will allow them to meet the needs of patients in a variety of different healthcare settings. The curriculum will take place in lecture halls and there will also be a number of simulation experiences given to students. Both nursing programs are accredited by the New York State Education Department.
