North Carolina A&T State University is a public university in Greensboro, North Carolina. It was established in 1891 as the Agricultural and Mechanical College for the Colored Race. It was the first college for people of color in the state. In became a regional university in 1967 and was renamed the North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. It is now the largest historically black university in the nation and offers over 175 undergraduate programs and 30 master’s programs. These programs are offered through nine professional colleges, including the College of Health and Human Services that houses the School of Nursing. The total student enrollment for 2018 was 12,142 students.
Three CCNE-accredited BSN programs are offered at the university. These options include traditional BSN, accelerated BSN, and RN to BSN programs. The traditional BSN program is a four-year program that includes classroom and clinical learning. Students also gain training through a virtual lab and clinical rotations at various community healthcare settings. With the accelerated program, students who already have a bachelor’s degree can obtain their BSN in just 12 months. The RN to BSN program is also designed to be completed in 12 months and can be completed online or on campus.
