LPN to BSN Programs in Pennsylvania

One of the most sought after nursing programs these days is the LVN or LPN to BSN program. If you are a practical nurse in the State of Pennsylvania and are looking to a nursing career advancement (while still working), then this program is just right for you. Completing the LPN to BSN program enables an LPN to earn a higher salary and to have more career choices. The average salary for an LPN is approximately $46,000 annually while the RN annual salary is $78,000. There is a substantial salary increase where an LPN finally decides to become an RN. Apart from financial perks, an RN in Pennsylvania that has obtained her BSN degree will have a significant advantage over other nurses such as better work hours and leadership opportunities.

Here are three universities to consider for your LPN to BSN study:

Marywood University

The LPN to BSN program from this university allows licensed practical nurses to pursue the BSN degree and a shot at the licensure examination. The school promises a vibrant community of leaders as well as learners that share a common passion for learning and knowledge. There are countless opportunities for growth in the campus and students are taught, from the onset, how to become leaders in their own way.

Waynesburg University

This is a private, Christian university that offers undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs. Founded by the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in 1849, this university is in a contemporary campus right on the hills of Southwestern PA.

The LPN to BSN program admits students that have graduated from state-approved Practical Nursing programs. They have the option to take it in full or part-time while finishing the general education requirements.

An admitted student enters as a first-year learner into the Department of Nursing. Where nursing prerequisites are met, the student can then begin his nursing majors during his third year in college.

All LPN to BSN students are held at the same admission requirements as the Basic BSN applicant.

Wilkes University

Located in Wilkes-Barre, PA, the school’s total enrollment is at 6,240. This is a private, accredited university that offers various programs in nursing including the LPN to BSN program.

The Wilkes Nursing Program has earned its distinction as one of the few programs that has received a 10-year accreditation by the CCNE or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. While many universities offer two years of clinical practice, WU offers its students more hands-on experience. This is achieved through externships even during the summer season. The extra clinical experience is what sets apart many Wilkes graduates from all other LPN to BSN students that have finished this program.

In addition to the above three, following is a list of colleges & universities that offer LPN to BSN program in Pennsylvania

Where possible, we include NCLEX pass rates data for each campus. The average pass rates are calculated using the last 3 years of data. The average scores are then used in our annual RN/PN rankings. You can read more about it here. You can also view this year's rankings for Pennsylvania here.
