The program is conditionally approved by the State Board of Nursing and accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission.
The program is offered in a combination of classroom theoretical instruction and clinical practice experience opportunities in a range of healthcare facilities.
Graduates from the program are eligible to apply to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination to become licensed Registered Nurses.
Students who are not directly accepted into the clinical part of the nursing program will be enrolled in the pre-nursing curriculum affording those intending to be admitted to the nursing program a chance to complete as many of the general education courses and pre-requisites for the clinical section.
Admission to the clinical part of the nursing program is competitive with students required to apply separately. LPNs entering the program are admitted in May while students with no nursing program enter the program in August. Priority is given to qualified residents from the Blue Ridge service area.
Admission Requirements:
LPN’s applying for admission to the clinical component are required to present all the requirements of the regular admission criteria as well as an unencumbered current LPN license for the state of Virginia.
