The Blackhawk Technical College ADN program prepares students for entry level jobs in a range of healthcare settings. The nursing program at Blackhawk is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission.
Students can apply to sit for the examination for Licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse at the end of the first year of the program.
Licensed Practical Nurses entering into the program could transfer credit for prior clinical training on the basis of an assessment of the current proficiency they are able to show in the theoretical and practical knowledge of the subject.
LPN’s will be required to take the Nursing Bridge course to be ready for the program before going into the third semester.
Transfer and LPN applicants will be accepted in to the program on the availability of space and pre-approval by the nursing faculty. The program has priority admission for students living in the district.
Graduates from the program are eligible to apply to sit for the National Licensure Examination to be licensed as a Registered Nurse. Students who fail to pass the criminal background check required for licensure due to a conviction record related to the practice of nursing may be denied licensing.
