Admission Requirements
Apply and be accepted to Central Methodist University College of Graduate and Extended Studies (select "Other Locations/Online")
Minimum cumulative GPA for admission: 3.0 on all college coursework
Minimum science sub-cumulative GPA: 2.5
Two references required via ABSN reference form; one from a non-nursing faculty member and one from a current employer or non-related, non-family volunteer supervisor
Required meeting with ABSN Program Coordinator or ABSN faculty prior to admission decision
Prerequisites
Applicants without a baccalaureate degree: minimum 53 credit hours of required general education and prerequisite coursework completed prior to being considered;
Required science courses (minimum grade C, maximum of two attempts): Biology with lab, Anatomy with lab, Physiology with lab, Chemistry, Microbiology with lab
Biology and/or Biology lab may be waived if all other science prerequisites are complete
Applicants must have completed at least 3 of the 5 science prerequisite courses prior to applying (for applicants without a baccalaureate)
Pathophysiology required with minimum grade B prior to beginning the ABSN program
Applicants with a baccalaureate degree: required courses with minimum grade C: Anatomy w/lab, Physiology w/lab, Microbiology w/lab, Chemistry, and Statistics OR Data Analysis for Nursing Practice; Pathophysiology with grade B prior to program start

Official transcripts required from all colleges/universities attended; accepted electronically via secure e-transcript service or by U.S. mail to 411 Central Methodist Square, Fayette MO 65248

Transcripts issued to the student or received via fax are not accepted as official documents
ABSN Admissions Committee meets each December to review completed applicant files
Committee reviews academic record, letters of recommendation, and completed criminal background check
Admission decisions: full acceptance, acceptance pending successful completion of prerequisites, wait list, or denial
Applicants accepted or waitlisted receive information on mandatory requirements including urine drug screens and immunization documentation
Continuation policy: any course grade below B requires repetition and successful completion with a B or higher before rejoining a subsequent cohort; two instances of a course grade below B results in dismissal from the program
Wait List Policies
Applicants placed on the wait list are ranked
Waitlisted applicants are notified in rank order if a seat becomes available prior to program start
Forfeited seats awarded to next ranked waitlisted applicant who has completed mandatory requirements prior to program start
Clinical & Simulation Lab
Clinical experiences conducted at approved mid-Missouri health care facilities
Clinical partners require COVID-19 vaccination for student participation in clinical experiences
Required preclinical documentation to be uploaded to Viewpoint Screening prior to program start: physical examination, rubella titer/immunization, varicella titer/immunization, DPT, Hepatitis B series, urine drug screen
Yearly clinical requirements: tuberculosis screening, annual influenza vaccine, current CPR certification (valid for 2 years), personal health insurance, malpractice insurance (obtained yearly through the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences)
