Ventura College’s nursing options are based on its Ventura campus at 4667 Telegraph Road (93003), on the east side of the city near the Highway 126 and Highway 101 interchange. For many students commuting from Oxnard, Camarillo, or the Santa Barbara area, driving is the most common approach, with traffic on US-101 often the main variable during typical clinical and class start times.
As a California community college, Ventura College offers two pre-licensure pathways: the Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) and an LPN to ADN option. The ADN is designed as a two-year course sequence completed over four semesters, typically running 16 to 19 units per term (students sometimes use summer coursework to spread out the unit load). The School of Nursing notes a student-centered approach focused on developing safe, competent practice for a diverse community, and the curriculum is structured to meet California Board of Registered Nursing requirements.
Admission is organized around set application windows twice each year, with deadlines in August (for Spring admission) and February (for Fall admission). Applicants must have all prerequisites completed before applying, and Ventura College requires ATI TEAS (version 7) with a minimum total score of 62% using first-attempt results, with a limit of two total TEAS attempts for eligibility. The selection process uses a multi-criteria screening for most seats, with an additional portion determined by waitlist order.
Ventura College’s ADN program is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing and has national accreditation through ACEN, first granted in August 2013, with continuing accreditation as the most recent status. For students tracking outcomes, Ventura College’s average weighted NCLEX-RN pass rate is 96.6%, which is above the 2024 California statewide average of 92.7%.
