Southwest Tennessee Community College
Southwest Tennessee Community College (STCC) is located in Memphis, Tennessee. It is a member of the State University and Community College System of Tennessee under the direction of the Tennessee Board of Regents. This community college was established in the year 2000 and is the result of a merger between Shelby State Community College and the State Technical Institute at Memphis. There are many associate’s degree programs at the school and it also offers an array of technical certification courses.
The STCC nursing program allows students to sign up for two different tracks. There is a traditional associate’s degree in nursing path and an LPN mobility track that allows LPNs to pursue earning associate’s degrees as they strive to earn RN status. The curriculum of the nursing program teaches students all of the practical skills and knowledge that is necessary to function as nurses. Students who graduate from this nursing program will be prepared to take the NCLEX-RN licensure exam. This nursing program is approved by the Tennessee State Board of Nursing and accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
