Mayland Community College
Mayland Community College (MCC) is located in Spruce Pine, North Carolina and is a part of the North Carolina Community College System. It also has learning centers in Newland and Burnsville that students can take advantage of. This public community college used to be known as Mayland Technical Institute. Students at MCC can expect a very thorough educational experience and can earn associate’s degrees, certificates, and diplomas. There are several transfer options available for students who want to continue on to four-year universities as well. With a variety of non-credit continuing education courses also being available, this school truly provides vast numbers of academic opportunities for all students in the area.
The MCC nursing program gives students the ability to pursue associate’s degrees in nursing. There is also a practical nursing program for those who wish to become licensed practical nurses (LPN). Nursing students will be prepared to care for patients in many medical settings. All of the necessary skills and techniques will be taught to students in a complete fashion. Upon successful graduation from one of the programs, nursing students will be eligible to apply to take either the NCLEX-PN or NCLEX-RN licensure exam. The associate’s degree nursing program has been approved by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
