Eastern Gateway Community College
Eastern Gateway Community College (EGCC) is located in Steubenville, Ohio. EGCC was established in 1968 and has had a number of different name changes throughout the decades. It serves more than 4500 students currently and is an open admissions college. EGCC has a large number of associate’s degree programs in many areas of study and also quite a few certificate programs available at this school. This school has been accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.
EGCC nursing program students can follow the practical nursing track to become licensed practical nurses (LPN) or the associate’s degree in nursing track to become registered nurses (RN). There is also an option for current LPNs to receive advanced placement in the RN program. EGCC conducts nursing courses and lab sessions on the campus and there are some online courses in the program too. Clinical experiences are part of the curriculum and will take place off-site at various hospitals and other healthcare agencies in the community. The nursing program at EGCC has been approved by the Ohio State Board of Nursing.
