SGNA Novice Nurse/Associate Scholarship

SGNA RN Advancing Education Scholarship

SGNA RN General Education Scholarship

Are you or someone you know working towards becoming a Registered Nurse? SGNA has a new scholarship to assist you. The SGNA RN General Education Scholarship offers funds of $2,500 as a reimbursement to a student in an accredited nursing program. You must be a full-time nursing student with a minimum GPA of 3.0. To apply, fill out the application and submit it no later than July 31, along with a short essay, a letter of recommendation and a transcript of any coursework you have already completed. The recipient will be notified in October, and the funds will be awarded after the winner successfully completes the fall term. Florida Nurses Foundation Scholarships

Offered by: Florida Nurses Association

This scholarship provides financial support to nursing students enrolled in accredited programs in Florida. Award amounts vary depending on the specific fund within the Florida Nurses Foundation.

Eligibility Requirements:

Aird-Lemone Scholarship

Offered by: Sinclair School of Nursing - University of Missouri

An endowed scholarship set up by Dr. Priscilla (LeMone) Koeplin, former Director of the Undergraduate Program of the School of Nursing, in honor of the parents of her and her late husband, Jacque. This scholarship is specifically designed to help non?traditional students in any program at the school of nursing with financial need. One or more annual awards may be given to students enrolled in any program within the school of nursing.

How to apply

You do not need to apply for individual internal scholarships. Submit the scholarship application for your degree program to the Sinclair School of Nursing Office of Student Affairs. Once your application is received, you will be eligible for any scholarship for which you meet the eligibility criteria. All students will also need to have a completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file.

American Cancer Society Doctoral Grants & Scholarships

Robert Wood Johnson Foundation New Careers in Nursing Scholarship Program

Past Presidents Parley Nursing Scholarship

Offered by: Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates, Inc.

Eligibility for all educational scholarships to be awarded by the Department of California shall be granted only to students attending schools in California and who are a veteran, son, daughter, or spouse of a veteran.

Applicants for any Department of California Scholarship must be a resident of the State of California and planning on attending a college or university in California in the Fall. (Exception: Lucille Ganey Scholarship.)

The Process

  1. Student obtains and completes application. Note: Online applications are two pages.
  2. Student locates closest American Legion Auxiliary Unit and submits application to them.
  3. The Unit selects one applicant for each type of scholarship and forwards applications to the District Education Chairman. Applicant is eligible to win one scholarship only. Other limitations may also apply.
  4. The District selects one applicant for each type of scholarship and forwards them to the Department Education Chairman.
  5. The Department selects one winner per scholarship and announces the winners during the June Convention.
  6. Winners are notified by the Department Education Chairman.

The number of scholarships offered by the Department of California is dependent upon donations received and availability of funds.

Educational Assistance General Scholarship Applicant must fill out and submit one application form E21. a. One (1) $2,000 scholarship payable at $1,000 per year. b. Four (4) $1,000 scholarships payable at $1,000 each. c. Three (3) $500 scholarships payable at $500 each.

Connie Settles Memorial Scholarship

Applicant must fill out and submit one application form application form E21S. a. One scholarship up to $5000 to be given annually and may include the cost of books. b. This is a gift scholarship and does not have to be repaid. c. Applicant must be a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and shall have paid dues for the two preceding years and for the calendar year in which the application is made. d. This scholarship is to be given yearly until funds are depleted. e. Only Senior members may apply, unless a Junior member is already attending college. f. It will be for ANY College or University. It is for undergraduate, masters, or doctorate programs. g. It is for continuing education students ONLY. h. Transcripts are required, along with one (1) letter from the applicant regarding themselves and their goals, plus two (2) letters of recommendation. i. The scholarship must be used within twelve (12) months of the date the winner is notified, otherwise the scholarship is forfeited. j. Applicant must present the completed forms to the American Legion Auxiliary Unit President on or before March 1 of the ensuing year. k. The winning entry from each Unit shall be certified by the Unit President and mailed to the District Education chairman to be received no later than March 15 of the ensuing year l. The District Education chairman shall choose one (1) winner and forward it to the Department Education Chairman m. When there is but one application the Department Education Chairman shall determine the amount needed and award said scholarship. n. When there is more than one application the Trustees of the Connie Settles Memorial Scholarship Fund shall make the final determination. o. The award shall be paid directly to the school that the applicant is registered and attending. p. The Department of California shall administer the funds and no information shall be given out regarding the funds. If questions arise, they are to be referred to the Trustees. q. The scholarship shall be given to a course of study that will enhance the future of the applicant. Therefore, no monies will be given to sewing classes, aerobics, sculpting or any other classes deemed to be nonessential.

Past Department Presidents Junior Scholarship Applicant must fill out and submit one application form application form E21J. a. Applicant must have consecutive membership as a Junior for three years and be current with her membership in the American Legion Auxiliary and must be a child, grandchild or great grandchild of a veteran who served in the Armed Forces of the United States during any of the following periods shown at the top of this page. b. Applicant must be currently attending high school and will be attending college during the following academic year. c. Applicant must be a resident of California or if applicant’s eligibility is by current members (Legion or Auxiliary) in California, the applicant may reside elsewhere. d. The scholarship shall be payable to the applicant as soon as confirmation has been received by the Department Office from the college of the applicant’s choice. e. The scholarship must be used within relative dates of one academic year following the award (i.e. September 04 – September 05) or be forfeited.

Students are to have prospects of being employed in specific positions in hospitals, clinics or health departments on completion of their education and the position must have a full-time and direct relationship to pediatric lung and respiratory control. Applicants must hold a current Registered Nurse license. Scholarship awards are $3,000.00 each.

American Legion Auxiliary, Dept. of Idaho Nursing Scholarship

Four scholarships are available for Idaho residents connected to the American Legion Family, offering $1,000 each for traditional and non-traditional students, including those pursuing nursing careers. Deadlines fall in May and June with awards given at the summer convention.

American Legion Auxiliary General Studies Traditional Scholarship

  • Amount: $1,000
  • Who can apply: Idaho high school seniors who are direct descendants of honorably discharged U.S. veterans from specified service periods
  • Deadline: May 1 (local unit), June 1 (department)
  • How to apply: Complete application form and submit through your local unit by May 1; unit submits one application to department by June 1
  • Requires letters of recommendation (from counselor/principal, non-family business person/teacher/clergyman, and non-family adult), high school transcript with ACT/SAT scores, veteran’s discharge certificate (DD-214), FAFSA financial statement
  • Must plan to attend an accredited higher education institution within two years
  • Notify Education Chairman if leaving school early

American Legion Auxiliary General Studies Non-Traditional Scholarship

  • Amount: $1,000
  • Who can apply: Idaho residents who are members of the American Legion Family, returning to or starting higher education later in life
  • Deadline: May 1 (local unit), June 1 (department)
  • How to apply: Submit completed application through local unit by May 1; unit forwards one application by June 1
  • Requires letters of recommendation (from non-family business person and non-family adult), recent transcript or work resume if last schooling was over five years ago, veteran’s discharge certificate, FAFSA, detailed career goals letter, work history resume
  • Must enroll in an accredited program within two years and notify Education Chairman if leaving early
  • Scholarship paid directly to school after enrollment verification

  • Who can apply: Idaho high school seniors who are direct descendants of honorably discharged veterans; pursuing nursing education

American Legion Auxiliary Department of Nebraska Nursing Scholarship

This $500 scholarship supports Nebraska residents enrolled in a four-year healthcare professional program who have a connection to a U.S. Veteran.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Be a Nebraska resident
  • Be enrolled in a four-year healthcare professional program
  • Have a Veteran connection (parent, grandparent, or great-grandparent who served in the U.S. military)

Application Process: Complete the three-page application packet, including a narrative explaining your field of study and why you chose it. Submit two recommendation letters, a resume listing activities and community service, a letter of acceptance from your school, and a certified transcript. Applications must be submitted to your local American Legion Auxiliary Unit postmarked by March 1.

Additional Information: The local Auxiliary Unit selects one applicant to advance to the state level by March 15. Scholarship funds must be used within the award year and will not be released after January 1 of the following year.

Past Presidents Parley - Nurses' Scholarship

The American Legion Auxiliary Department of Ohio, Past Presidents Parley, has a program to assist students pursuing a degree in the nursing field.

  • The applicant must be an honorably discharged veteran or a spouse, son or daughter (adopted, step, grand, or great-grand) of a living, deceased, or disabled honorably discharged veteran
  • The applicant must be a resident of Ohio.
  • The applicant must be sponsored by an Ohio American Legion Auxiliary Unit.
  • The scholarship may be used at the nursing school of the student's choice. Proof of acceptance must be attached to application.

Past Presidents Parley Nurses Training Scholarship

Offered by: American Legion Auxiliary Department of Colorado

Candidates for this scholarship shall be daughters, sons, spouses, granddaughters or great granddaughters of a veteran or a veteran who has served in the Armed Forces during the eligibility dates for membership in the American Legion.

Candidates must be a resident of Colorado.

Previous Parley Scholarship winners are not eligible for further competition.

The number of recipients and amounts of awards will be determined by the amount of contributions received during the current year from Units.

Forty Eight Nursing Scholarships

Offered by: American Legion Auxiliary Unit #92

The 40/8 awards five $1,000 Nursing Scholarships each year to Nursing students. The Cabane gives out one $500 scholarship  to a student in the medical field.
