Loma Linda University
Loma Linda University is a private university offering more than 100 programs to undergrads and grads. It is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and is affiliated with the Seventh-day Adventist Church and part of the Seventh-day Adventist education system. The on-campus church has a large congregation, with over 7,000 members from the Loma Linda area. Since the beginning of the college’s history, Loma Linda has offered nursing and medical programs to students. In 1913, the College of Medical Evangelists was opened to offer nursing and medical students clinical experience. Nursing is now offered through the Loma Linda University School of Nursing.
The Loma Linda University School of Nursing works closely with the Loma Linda University Medical Center, where more than 30,000 patients are admitted each year. Nursing students receive hands-on training at the hospital, local offices, and nursing homes while completing their undergraduate or graduate degree. The undergraduate programs offered include BSN, BA to BSN, LVN to BSN, and RN to BSN. Students must complete the required prerequisite courses at an accredited university or college before enrolling in one of these programs. Loma Linda University also offers graduate programs for those seeking an MS, DNP, or Ph.D. in nursing.
