Nursing Programs
Considered as one of the best in the US, Auburn Montgomery School of nursing has got a history of producing skilled and professional nurses with high degree of professionalism. The pass rates for its candidates at the NCLEX-RN examination is above the national average. The four year program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. Similarly, it is approved by the Alabama Board of Nursing. The School of Nursing is a member of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing.
The baccalaureate program is conducted in two phases. A lower division phase and an upper division phase. Each division takes two years of full time study. Courses in humanities, biophysical and behavioral sciences are taught in the lower division. After the lower division, successful students apply to the upper division and upon acceptance, they are taught nursing courses and clinicals. The nursing laboratories are ultra-modern and make practical learning very exciting.
Admission Requirements
Admission to the upper division is competitive and it is dependent on individual performance in the lower division and an interview. Admission requirements include a minimum of a 2.5 GPA on the required lower division courses and completion of each course in the lower division with a grade C minimum.The applicationdeadline for fall admission is February 1st, and applications for spring admission must be submitted by May1st.
Admission for students begins in the summer semester. If you are planning to attend the program part-time, an individualized plan of study will be provided by the school. The program must be completed within 5 years.
Admission Requirements
- To be eligible, you must have a 2.5 or higher grade-point average.
- You also need at least a C in all Prenursing courses. You cannot receive transfer credit for courses in which you had a D or F
- Complete your application by April 1 for admission to summer semester. Applications are available starting in January.
- Present evidence of a current unencumbered RN license.
- Present evidence of Hepatitis B vaccination, TB skin test, current History and Physical Examination (within six months of the term in which you plan to enroll), current BCLS certification and malpractice insurance.
A maximum of 24 semester hours of nursing credit will be awarded upon successful completion of NURS 4110.
Advanced placement or CLEP credit in Prenursing courses is granted according to university policies.
You must maintain an overall GPA of 2.0 and have at least a C in all courses. If you earn less than a C, you may repeat the course one time only. If you earn D or F in two or more nursing courses, or if your GPA falls below a 2.0, you will be disenrolled from the program and will not be eligible for readmission.
Admission to the MSN program is competitive and enrollment is limited. Minimum requirements include:
- A bachelor’s of science in nursing from an accredited college or university
- Good academic standing from the last university you attended
- Successful completion (C or better) of an undergraduate statistics course
- Overall grade-point average of 3.0
- Unencumbered license as a registered nurse
- Submission of GRE scores
- Three letters of reference
- Current resume
- Essay on the reason for seeking the MSN
Full-time admission is available in the fall and summer semesters.
Part-time admission is available in all semesters.
