Nursing Programs
The associates degree in nursing program that is offered through Arizona Western College provides students with the basic knowledge to safely provide care to patients in a variety of healthcare settings. Students of this program will gain knowledge that will help them pass the licensure exam, as well as learn skills that they can use to obtain an entry level position as a registered nurse.
Before potential students can enter the program they must first successfully complete a number of prerequisites, including Fundamental Chemistry, Anatomy and Physiology, and Mathematics for Medications. They must also have a passing score in Math and Reading on the college placement test. After these courses and tests have been completed students can then apply to the nursing program. This program itself requires a total of 72.25 credit hours for completion.
The goal of Arizona Western College for students completing the associate’s degree in nursing program is to be able to function independently in the nursing field using the skills and knowledge gained in this program. The student should be able to provide safe care to individuals in diverse health care environments. The graduating student should be able to communicate effectively and use critical thinking skills to become a valuable member of a health care team.
