Established in 1886, the University of Wyoming is a public institution with undergrad and graduate degree programs. It is a land-grant university with the main campus in Laramie, Wyoming. The University of Wyoming is organized into seven professional colleges. These colleges include the College of Health Sciences, which manages the nursing programs. The university offers more than 190 different undergraduate and graduate degree programs. They also offer a selection of programs through an online education system. There are currently over 41 different programs offered through the Online Outreach School, offering degrees, certificates, and endorsements to online students.

The Fay W. Whitney School of Nursing at the University of Wyoming offers traditional BSN, RN to BSN, accelerated BSN, and MSN programs. All programs are accredited by the CCNE. The school accepts up to 48 students into the traditional BSN program each year. The program includes access to state-of-the-art classrooms and a clinical simulation center. The accelerated BSN provides flexible options for nursing students with baccalaureate degrees in a non-nursing field. The accelerated program uses a hybrid learning experience that includes online classes, on-campus learning, and hands-on clinical rotations. The classes are offered at the Laramie campus. However, the clinical experiences may include placement at sites in Cheyenne. The MSN program includes two specialty tracks – Nurse Educator and Nurse Leader.
