The University of Missouri-St Louis (UMSL) is a public research institution in Saint Louis and part of the University of Missouri System. It was established in 1963 after merging several schools with the University of Kansas City. Some of the first classes were taught in a laundromat. The campus now includes multiple academic buildings, including the Thomas Jefferson and Mercantile Libraries. The campus is divided into two areas. Students can easily travel between the campuses using the St. Louis MetroLink. This light rail system has two stations on campus. The university is comprised of 10 schools and colleges, including the College of Nursing.

The UMSL College of Nursing offers several nursing programs. Nursing students may apply to one of seven CCNE-accredited nursing programs. There are three BSN options, including traditional BSN, accelerated BSN, and RN to BSN programs. The traditional BSN program includes both full-time and part-time plans. With part-time classes, students may take classes in the evening and on the weekends. Training is offered through the nursing arts laboratory and experience at community clinics and healthcare facilities. The accelerated BSN program can be completed in just 15 months after the general education coursework is completed. Graduate-level programs include MSN, DNP, PhD, and BSN to PhD programs.
