The University of Houston-Victoria (UHV) is a component of the University of Houston System that also operates four other campuses. However, UHV is not a branch campus. It has its own accreditations and academic programs. It even has its own satellite campus in Katy, Texas. The main campus in Victoria covers 20 acres in the city of Victoria, which is 30 miles from the Gulf of Mexico. UHV was established in 1973 as the University of Houston Victoria Center. 100 students enrolled during the first school year. For the 2017 school year, over 4,000 students enrolled at UHV.

Several BSN programs are offered, including traditional BSN, accelerated BSN, and RN to BSN. The university also offers MSN and RN to MSN programs. These options are all accredited by the CCNE. The RN to BSN program is an online program for registered nurses. This online program is nationally ranked and provides a convenient option for working registered nurses who are seeking a way to further their careers. The remaining programs require students to complete courses at the main University of Houston campus in Houston. However, students enrolled in the traditional BSN program may complete their prerequisite courses at the University of Houston-Victoria.
