Philadelphia, PA 19107

Established in 1825, Thomas Jefferson University (TJU) is a private institution in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It is ranked 15th in a ranking of the Best Regional Universities in the North. The university began as a medical school. While the university now offers a wide range of programs in various disciplines, health and sciences are still the primary focus. The School of Nursing opened in 1891. The university also maintains affiliations with many hospitals and healthcare networks, including the Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals. TJU is still a small university, with fewer than 3,000 students enrolled each year.

Six nursing programs are offered at Thomas Jefferson University, including an associate’s degree in nursing program. The BSN options include traditional BSN, RN to BSN, and accelerated BSN. The university also offers an MSN program and a DNP program. The BSN, MSN, and DNP programs are all accredited by the CCNE. The accelerated BSN program includes two different pathways for those who already have a bachelor’s degree in a field other than nursing. With the first pathway, students can earn their BSN in 12 months. With the second pathway, students can complete their BSN program in two years with full-time coursework. For those obtaining an MSN, the university offers eight different specialty tracks.
