The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHealth San Antonio) is part of the University of Texas System. It is the largest health sciences university in the South Texas region and offers both undergraduate and graduate degree programs. The university was established in 1959 and received major upgrades in 2006, including the construction of the $150 million South Texas Research Facility. UTHealth San Antonio maintains affiliations with over 100 clinics, hospitals, and healthcare facilities in the South Texas area. The university also houses the Mays Cancer Center, which is a National Cancer Institute Cancer Center.

The university has a variety of CCNE-accredited nursing programs available for undergrads and grads. The undergrad programs include BSN, RN to BSN, accelerated BSN, and LPN to BSN. The traditional BSN track includes four semesters of nursing courses after students complete four semesters of general studies and prerequisite courses. The accelerated track may be completed in 15 months by students who already have bachelor’s degrees in a non-nursing field. Graduate degree programs include MSN, RN to MSN, Ph.D., and BSN to Ph.D. The MSN program includes two specialty tracks, Administrative Management, and Clinical Nurse Leader. With the BSN to DNP program, students typically earn their DNPs in 36 months.
