Saint Cloud State University (SCSU) is a public institution in Saint Cloud, Minnesota and one of the ten campuses that are part of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system. It was founded in 1869 on the Mississippi River. The university started as the Third State Normal School. Classes were taught in one building. The university now has multiple buildings on the 100-acre campus and offers over 200 majors and minors across its 6 schools and colleges, including the School of Health and Human Services. The university was ranked 118th in the region and 571st in the nation.

The SCSU Department of Nursing at the School of Health and Human Services offers two nursing programs accredited by the CCNE. These programs include a traditional 4-year BSN program and an accelerated BSN program. While enrolled in the traditional BSN program, students may join the Active Nursing Club. This club helps students find volunteer opportunities in the area to help develop their skills and raise funds for health care-related issues. The school also has its own Human Simulation Lab to help students learn procedures and equipment. Clinical experience is provided during the final semester of the 4-year program. Seniors receive an immersive experience working at local hospitals and clinics.
