Research College of Nursing

Kansas City, MO 64132

Research College of Nursing is a private college in Kansas City and part of Rockhurst University. The history of the college includes the founding of German Hospital in 1886 and the German Hospital Training School for Nurses in 1905. The names of the hospital and school were changed during World War I, to avoid any connection to Germany and the war. Over the year, the college has expanded and developed a reputation for offering a quality education in nursing. The first BSN program was offered in 1980, while the accelerated BSN program was first offered in 1991. In 1992, the Research Medical Center acquired the Baptist Medical Center. Over 4,000 professional nurses have graduated from the college since the first BSN degree was offered.

The Research College of Nursing offers a BSN program, accelerated BSN program, and MSN program. These programs were most recently accredited by the CCNE in 2003 and the accreditations remain current. Students with a bachelor’s degree in a non-nursing field may apply to the accelerated BSN program. This program is designed to be completed in 12 months after the student completes the prerequisite courses at Rockhurst University. Students receive clinical experience at Research Medical Center and the additional 10 hospitals affiliated with the school.
