Nursing Programs
The LPN program offered at Wadley campus is approved by the Alabama Board of Nursing. Upon admission, students need to study for duration of 1 year to successfully complete the program. The academic year is structured to entail a total of 49 semester hours that are subdivided amongst three semesters. The three semesters are for course works only.
The program has various courses that are a prerequisite in order to get the certificate. The core courses are:
- Fundamentals of Nursing
- Adult nursing
- Maternal and Child Nursing
- Psychosocial Nursing
- Adult/Child Nursing and
- Role transition
The core course give the student a strong foundation that is required to work as a practical nurse. Furthermore role transition is structured to enable students manage a smooth transition from a student to a professional nurse without difficulties.
The program is open to anybody who meets the minimum requirements. All applicants must be willing to undergo a criminal background check and drug screening. This is in line with the requirements set forth by agencies used for clinical rotations. Students must apply to the college and to the practical pursing program by the 1st of February.
