A student who completes LPN to BSN program can begin practicing as a registered nurse and has the chance to pursue advanced nursing programs in various specialized fields. One other advantage in taking the BSN degree is the substantial salary increase. If you are planning to return to school to advance your nursing education career in the state of Texas, following is a list of schools that offer LPN to BSN program:

Prairie View A&M University

To enroll in this school’s LPN to BSN program (also known as the LVN to BSN program), an applicant must be a practicing LVN in the State of Texas. You must also have a minimum experience of one year in the field of practical nursing.

Before starting the program, credit hours are given for courses that have been completed during the vocational nursing training of a student. Those that are able to receive the maximum credit may finish the program in just two years. Child health nursing, adult health nursing, and community health nursing are examples of these courses.

Admitted students must have a current license for a practical nurse with a 3.0 GPA from any of the community colleges or vocational technical schools. They must also pass the pre-nursing standardized admission test which cannot be taken more than twice and must submit two letters of recommendation – one from the LVN nursing program administrator and the other from the supervisor from the student’s place of employment.

University of Texas at Tyler

University of Texas's LPN to BSN program can be completed in just four semesters. A student must complete nursing and general education course prerequisites before they can even be considered for the program. Once admitted, a student needs to complete 60 hours of nursing courses like issues in professional nursing, nursing research and older adult health.

University of Texas at El Paso

A student in the LPN to BSN program receives course credit hours for taking prerequisite courses through the NCLEX-RN. It takes four semesters to finish this program with compulsory classes in family development stressors, critical thinking in nursing and statistics.

For both University of Texas campuses, the minimum GPA requirement is 2.75 and these courses need to be completed: Pathophysiology & Nursing Concepts and Theories

California State University Stanislaus

Applicants who would want to be considered for the LPN to BSN program need to complete certain prerequisites prior to acceptance in the program. It takes four semesters to finish the program with classes in nursing research; leadership and management; and issues facing the profession.
